I know Brook Lopez wants to win a another chip at Milwaukee but he is also wanting to get paid for his last contract. Being 35 years old, back surgery 18 months ago and time is running out. HOWEVER, I heard he is truly wanting to get paid and Milwaukee is going to be way over the payroll threshold. They have to give Middleton a big contract this week and they are hoping 10-12 million will be sufficient for Brook Lopez. We need to give him at least 40 million for two years and explain to him about Texas-no income tax state. I think he will come if FVV is committed to us as well and Coach Ime talk to him.
His 3pts shooting is average. And his defense is mediocre. I know he had some block highlights, but he missed lots of switching on defense. I can see why FO rather have Dillion Brooks.
Why do people keep saying that we need to remind players about Texas's no state income tax? Trust me, they are all aware.
I hear ya. Was referring to last year. KJ was no doubt the best and smartest cutter on the team. Looking forward to seeing what Cam does no doubt.
Sounds like we are about to throw the bag at players we don’t need or don’t fit our timeline. Who will be the new Ryan Anderson that costs us a title?
Brooks is another non shooter talking trash all the time. dont need that type of player. lopez on short term and a pass 1st guard are the ideal targets.
an a lot shooter could also be a non shooter with 32% from 3 and 40% fg. ineffective...one of the reasons the grizz let him walk
Are you not understanding that we HAVE to spend money to get to the salary floor? Short term deals do no harm at all.
I do. Thinking that we have to spend money at FA is the type of mindset that could get us in trouble down the line. We can bring salary via sensible trades (eg Monte Morris or Tyus Jones), signing FA at positions of need (Grant Williams to start at SF, Plumlee at backup C) and using cap space to absorb bad expiring contracts (Eg Fournier, Morris) for draft assets.
Box Plus-Minus 22: -1.8 23: -3.9 VORP 22: 0.0 23: -1.1 Win Shares/48 22: .087 23: .034 MUCH worse in the playoffs also. Efficiency would also be worst on the team. All-NBA is more narrative than merit-based IMO.
Guys besides FVV that make some sense: D'Angelo Russel, Jevon Carter, Dillon Brooks would give this team an edge and help them not be a young team of pushovers. I'd prefer Draymond in that regard. Guys I would try to trade for: Caruso, Olynyk, OG Anunoby, Norman Powell, Buddy Hield
In the long run, yes we won't need that. A 2 Yr contract plus a team option is reasonable for a big player like Brook Lopez.
This would be the approach to take. FVV would be a mistake. Grant Williams, Jerami Grant would be my main targets. Plumlee is a great mention as well. Hartenstein would also be great, but may cost us too many assets. We really only have one starting spot open for a vet and that is small forward. Then we could use a vet center and maybe a vet sharpshooter to come off the bench. Above all we need to keep our flexibility for when the youngsters are performing to their potential and free agents and disgruntled stars will listen.
The problem is it's a delicate balance between needing veterans to help this team grow and win but not getting guys in here that are going to take up too many minutes and too many shots. Some guys are not going to come here because of money only. They want to start or they want to be on a championship team. Seems like the best way to increase the salary cap floor is to trade for vets that will be expiring contracts.
