Not big deal anymore. Objectively, I would be happy with either Davis or Francis on my team. While I think Francis may be more talented, choosing between him would be like choosing between Heidi Klum and Halle Berry. You're a winner either way.

Davis had a great season last year and made the playoffs, he deserved to go in Kidd's place. Miller and Raef should not be on the squad. Miller is over the hill and Raef is average at best. Not too sure why Collison was picked as an alternate over all the other college ballers.

Really not a big deal. But I still hope Steve will use this as a motivation to work harder on his game.

frankly, i don't want to see any of the rockets risking injury for the national team until they make the playoffs. there's a reason that Carter, Garnett, Shaq, Kobe, Iverson, Payton and other elite players in the league aren't playing! The US squad will still have plenty to spare even with this 2nd-team talent.... and to risk major injury in insignificant competitions like this, in which the US and the top players have nothing to prove... i think we should be glad that Stevie doesn't have to undergo the ordeal...

to suggest that davis is better than francis is a joke. davis scores less, rebounds less, creates less, and is simply less of a player. he can't shoot as well (whether it be 2's or 3's), he can't run as fast, he can't jump as high, and his ft percentage is barely 50% for goodness sake... last season, he was barely better than a migraine-crippled francis...

if francis has anything resembling the hornets as a supporting cast, and were less of an unstoppable scorer, yeah, maybe then i'd hope to see as much assists.

let davis have a chance to prove himself ready to be among the elite. francis doesn't need to, because he was ready the day he put on a rockets uniform...

I agree with the fact that Reggie is over the hill, so this is probably like one of those "lifetime achievement awards" since he will never get an MVP. Other than that, there are many NBA players more deserving than Raef. I don't even know who Collison is...

Beyond that, on the other argument in this thread, Baron Davis HAS shown himself to be better and tougher than S.F. Francis has nowhere near the level defense that Davis has. Scoring may be less but that's what happens when you dish out assists.. It's not like Charlotte is loaded with All-Stars.

They probably did not pick him because he like to play street ball unlike the other players. Raef Lafrenz? Please. The guy sucks.

Rockets-R-Us, didn't you read the stats HoRockets just typed? No one over 50% shooting. Davis may not have all-stars but he has excellent supporting players at EVERY position. Campbell is more of a threat than Cato, PJ BRown is good for 11pts a night, Mashburn is a 20+ pt. scorer and Weasly is a 14ppg guy. The Rocks have two starting positions give them less than 9pts a game. Add that to the fact we run nothing but ISO's and where are the assists gonna come from?

A healthy team and the additions of Ming & Nachbar (and hopefuly a play or 2) and Francis assists number WILL be improved.

even more important than who wasn't on the floor for steve is that our style of play is just not as conducive to assists as charlottes'. does it make steve more selfish? no.
