Several scouts and big names said he was the best QB in this draft.

He still may end up being the best QB from the last draft as well.

Players that went against him know especially in the last 5 games (now they just need to get the name lol) ..He had a fairly good 2021 overall when you look at the whole season but his last 5 games, he almost went out of his mind. The game was slower for him, his footwork, his composure, his accuracy, his decision making all went up another level or two..in fact If we judged QBs only on what did they do in their last 5 games of the season, …it would actually be difficult to exclude Davis Mills out of a top 10 ranking vs all other QBs. Check the numbers, no lie

This is the intriguing thing…if he was up and down on productivity down the last 5 game stretch, this would be actually both understandable considering that’s what even top tier rookie QBs do..and combined with little to work with, but you could argue that no team had worse to work with in 2021…so now 2022, Mills has the better coaching support, has a better personnel support. I could be wrong but don’t be shocked if Mills plays like a top 10 QB for all 17 games next season

It did him a world of good after he started when Taylor got hurt that he got sat down and could observe and understand what he was doing wrong and he corrected a lot of his errors. Its not unusual and he seems to be a smart guy thats always a plus.

The cynic in me wants to point out that lots of the lower tier QBs can have a good 5 game stretch at times. The positive side remembers JJ Watt's rookie season, when he wasn't a huge impact in the early part of the season until around the last 5 games or so, when things just started to click. Then he went crazy that last quarter of the season and in the playoffs. We know the rest from there.

Hoping for a similar story for Mills.

My hope is that he’s either really good or really bad. I don’t want any more questions heading into next years draft and I don’t want to win just enough games to take us out of the running for a top qb.

No. 35: Davis Mills, Houston Texans

“One of the more pleasant surprises. He’s got some ability in his game, more than I gave him credit for coming out of Stanford. He knows how to play in the pocket…He can read a defense and make the appropriate decision. He’s not a ‘thrower,’ he’s a ‘passer.’ He’s more about timing and rhythm and anticipation. It’s not huge talent, but it’s good talent, and his ability to play the position is pretty advanced for the age he’s at right now. That’s why I put him ahead of guys like Tyrod Taylor and Teddy Bridgewater…He started making plays and dictating the game himself…If he stays on the course, he’s going to be the starter and be the guy.”

Chris Simms sucks as an analyst. I'd take his ranking with a huge grain of salt.

    Did he misspell Gino Torretta?

Random b.s. rankings are random and b.s. for a reason.

This smacks of someone that predicted Mills wouldn't be good when he was drafted and isn't yet fully willing to admit he was wrong. Simms had Mills as the 7th best QB in his class going into the 2021 draft.

When people rank Mills lower than Pickett(Who has yet to step foot on an NFL field), Wilson(who I admittingly am not high on but looked terrible last year), Fields(who I am also not high on, looked terrible, and has a worse roster around them) and Trey Lance(who, by all accounts, is still not ready to be an NFL QB yet), my assumption is that they either didn't watch a single down of a Mills game, don't pay a single lick of attention to the Texans, or they don't know football
