Da-uh, did you just call Yao a "high maintenance" player?

as a chinese i'm glad to see you guys' words about understanding Yao's feeling. obviously 2008 Olympics hold in Beijing really means a lot to Yao, he counts it as the best chance and maybe the last chance for him to play for motherland.

I'd like to say to those guys who thought Yao should not play for CNT that if you really like Yao or like Houston Rockets, maybe all you should do right now is to pray for Yao's health rather than blame him for his love to country.

your franchise player telling your houston teammates and houston media that team china first isn't the nicest thing to do, from a rox fan standpoint. i think that's pretty understandable, no?

Yao is a total class act. I just can't understand why people are getting all worked up over Yao's loyalty to his country. To most of the world, the Olympics ARE the big stage.

Yao not playing in the Beijing Olympics would be like Tom Brady not playing in the Superbowl if it was held in Boston.

In the NBA, Yao is just a mercenary. Everyone is. You like to think that players have loyalty for the team you root for, and history has proven that some do and some don't. Yao has shown incredible loyalty to the Rockets. But when it comes to playing for your country, there's no free agency. Growth and development are organic.

I really hope Yao's body is in good shape come August because his whole life up to this point has been leading to this moment. It would be a tragedy if he missed this. It will only happen once.

Thanks God, some people don't understand because they have no patriotism in them.

he's not doing that. his rockets season is over no matter what.

But c'mon, his identity of being Chinese is a big part of who he is. You can't ask a man to give up his identity. That's not right.

The timing of the statement wasnt the best but Im sure all his teammates know what this summer means to him. But if you put it in perspective, hopefully Yao will be trying to lead the Rockets to a title one year from now.

He will never again have the opportunity to play with the CNT in an Olympics being held in China. This is truly his once in a lifetime opportunity.
