The best shooter, Jon Barry, released.
The best scorer, Mike James, traded.

you harp about the barry cut in every thread possible.. why? you know he was hurt and all.. why keep getting upset about it? at the very least, it's over and he's RETIRED (and would have retired end of this season anyway)..get over it.

if he was here now and miraculously could play, he still couldn't play much. wouldn't make up for wesley's minutes much.

hahaha and i was TOTALly gonna say this in another reply, but you gave me a shot here.

See above about Barry. I wanted to add..."this is like the people who complain about the Mike James trade when he would have been gone after this season anyway".

It's as if no one has any long term planning. Everyone would have been pissed that we didn't trade MJ before the deadline if we had kept him and then he left.

    I LOVE THIS BOARD

That's total crap. No one would complain about having an extra $4.2MM in cap space with MJ's contract expired if we weren't able to resign him.

Only time will tell if Rafer's worth the $19MM heading his way over the next 4 years...

Really? Did MJ perosnally tell you he was gonna leave?

And even if we ASSUME he was gonna leave sowhat even if he did? He would have helped us THIS YEAR atleast.

The best part about NOT trading Mike James would have been that we would not STUCK with Rafer's contract for next 50 years.

Ok Mr. Long term planner. Please do tell us how the moves that rockets made this year has helped them in the long term.

    Bingo!! Someone knows his math.

Although, that wouldnt be extra cap space. We would be over the cap one way or another.

Only bonus would be that we woudnt be stuck with Rafer.

What cap space? If mike walks, he will left the rockets with nothing. Zero. The team is over the cap with or without Mike James. And can only use a MLE for a new player.

I'd say better use the MLE to sign a backup for Tracy and at the same time, has us a servable PG.

MJ wasn't a good fit in Houston. He's putting up good numbers in Toronto but they still need 10 wins out of their remaining 18 to equal last season.

Rafer's contract is a valuable asset. Skip is a good player in the NBA and the Rocks can trade for the same or better. NBDL talent won't get you that.

you're exactly right. the point wasn't cap space...the point was that everyone would be pissed that MJ left and we got nothin for him in the end after "knowing that he would leave".

I think everyone here would have said "it was obvious he was going to leave. Him and TMac didn't get along (even though we can see it's not true). Fire CD and JVG. They should have seen that and gotten value for him." Regardless of the truth behind that..that just seems like the way people react to things.

Yes, I personally do think the 19 mil to rafer is worth it. I think he's meant more to this team than is immediately visible, and when everyone's healthy next year, it will show. I think that is more long-term planning than sitting on MJ and then letting him walk. Getting someone that fits, isn't too overpaid, and is signed long-term.

No, MJ didn't personally tell me. But he did say it in the media. I don't have an exact link, but I think that can be confirmed by many on here..

I think it was in a radio interview and MJ stated that he was looking to get paid regardless of where it was

Chron reported Wesley broke a rib and he is week to week. Can't believe he is coming back this season.
