Wouldn't be surprised if he stayed a puppet master behind the scenes like Putin. Cockroaches like that don't die this easy.

Partially I am beyond excited...the other part I am a little weary given that Adam Silver was Stern's protoge for quite a while and has probably been groomed to be a splitting of Stern.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think Silver will do much differently than Stern.

i wondered if stern cared about getting to 30 years and it looks like he will do it on the dot. i, for one, have liked the david stern era. the moment he cupped his ear to incite the boos at the draft probably summed things up pretty well. only someone who had been around long enough and built up enough power and persona would get people to boo every second they were announcing draft picks. and yet stern perfectly got (and gets) that people only boo if they care about the nba and thus he played into his role as the villain that people love to hate. and only david stern would be cocky and smug enough to actually go through with it and cup his ear to bring on boos at a league event.

i don't know why people think he will. the commissioner serves because the owners want him to. stern didn't serve for 30 years because the owners didn't like what he was doing. and they won't be replacing him with silver because they think he will be a drastic departure from what they kept bringing back for 30 straight years. it's like people think superstar calls are going somewhere or that silver is going to publicly lambast referees every time they make a call people don't like.

also, why does the commissioner change in mid-season?
