That is true. He's been a great commish. Joe Paterno was a great football coach too.

Only a troll like you would give farewell to Stern especially after he vetoed the Rockets improving the team and took a lousier trade to make sure it didn't happen. Martin and Scola just need more touches and for the ball to go through them more. The Rockets need them to just be excellent role players rather than borderline all-stars. They would have been better on the Hornets who have much less talent. They are pros who go to work everyday. Odom is still worth a first rounder (I believe the Hornets might of had that trade lined up).

But you're right, it's all business. He expected Houston fans to continue showing up to the games, and watching the broadcasts after the Texans finally made and won in the playoffs, two seasons of the Rockets missing the playoffs, having no star players, and a vetoed trade.

The Rockets making the playoffs means a team that's losing money such as Memphis would lose more if they don't make the playoffs.

Dislike him or not, David Stern changed the league for the better.

Stern is sooooooooooo shady, not sure how anyone can defend a man who uses scare tactics and threats to silence his critics. Good riddance DS

You can't prove or disprove this, so why say it? It's like saying there is an afterlife.

From a business standpoint he was great.
From a basketball tradition standpoint he sucks.

Yes, because there are no implications to worry about if there is or isn't an afterlife... so let's not worry about it just because we can't materially prove it.

    Bad analogy.

Either way I wish I could change his retirement to 2011.
