Part of the reason challenge based reviews work in the NFL is because they value timeouts so highly--ie, you lose a challenge, then you lose a TO. Is losing a TO in the NBA enough of a penalty for losing a challenge?
To all those people complaining about it slowing the game down, would you rather the game be fast-paced with an lesser product, or would you be willing to give up an extra 5 minutes per game to ensure that the calls on the court are correct? At the end, I think the integrity of the sport benefits by this, so I'm in favor of it. Anything to hold some of these officials to a higher standard of accountability.....
In the last 2 minutes of a game with a point differencial of 10, I would say - Yes! Otherwise it doesn't make any difference.
I am all in favor of this... BUT, would agree that there has been some slowing down of the game already with the refs. I don't know why though. For some reason, it seems to take them 5 minutes to figure out whether a shot was a 3 pointer or a 2 pointer when we at home can tell from the first reply, shown pretty immediately. And that doesn't even include the extra 5 minutes they then take to make sure that there is 5.1 seconds on the clock instead of the 5.0 or 5.2 that it was stopped at. I don't understand why the current replay system takes so long?
