We should email 'what' some topless photos of Zach Randolph to keep him entertained. He is obviously very bored this offseason.
I don't see how you can really separate the two. Im serious. These players were once in a lifetime players we are talking about, winning and losing was up to them.
You would be hard pressed to find any intelligent, unbiased basketball mind who would agree with you.
Lol Grizzly Troll thinking we care about regular season games. Dream annihilated D-Rob when it mattered most.
Let's see you joined in 2003.... So don't tell me.. You're a big time Yao fan... First off.. i'm not a big time stats person, because they never tell the entire truth... Now as other as have stated, SA has always been a big in-state rivalry. But if you ask the greatest who's ever played the game, he would choose Hakeem over any center out there.... As a matter of fact he never mentioned David at all... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=206791 If I had to pick a center [for an all-time best team], I would take Olajuwon. That leaves out Shaq, Patrick Ewing. It leaves out Wilt Chamberlain. It leaves out a lot? of people. And the reason I would take Olajuwon is very simple: he is so versatile because of what he can give you from that position....People don't realize he was in the top seven in steals. He always made great decisions on the court. For all facets of the game, I have to give it to him. -- Michael Jordan
what, why the hell are you bringing this screwed up thread to the ClutchFans site? Do you really want to be demoted? Screw the damn regular season. It's all about the playoffs and Hakeem dominated. See my 1st post in your ****ed up thread.
Being "owned" by Mr Robinson isn't an embarrassing event. David Robinson was #1 pick, league MVP, DPOY, 2 time champ, all time 50 player, and 20 various all-nba teams Robinson once scored 71 on the clippers and had 22 40+ NBA games. He had multiple 50+ games. He had 10 games with 10+ blocks Simply, he was the best center in the regular season for many many years in the NBA. That's not the whole story, however. The criticism with Robinson with Olajuwon is the same criticism that Robinson receives in general. Stallion in the regular season, mule in the playoffs. This is no Yao-Howard rivalry with Yao ****ting on Howard all over the court. Robinson did win most of the regular season matchups with Hakeem. It's not like Hakeem spent his entire career dominating David Robinson. In the playoffs however it was a different matter. For example the year that Robinson won the league MVP in 1995, Hakeem beat Robinson in the playoffs en route to an NBA championship. It's likely that Robinson could have beat a callow Shaq in the Finals that year but he couldn't get past Olajuwon. That year made Dream's reputation (before those playoffs most NBA insiders would have considered both Shaq and Robinson over Hakeem but after that year there was no question. On the flip side that year pretty much destroyed all talk of David Robinson as the best player in the NBA or even best center and made him a whipping boy much like Dirk after 2006 or Lebron today. For his part Hakeem crushed both the league MVP, and the league top scorer. Oh, who by the way both played his position and got much more hype. Robinson put up gaudy stats. He stacks up well against anyone. However Dream owned Robinson in 95 when it counted most. Had Robinson won that matchup... that year 94-95, leading his team to 60+ wins, winning MVP and maybe winning the Finals it would have been one of the most dominating seasons in NBA history. Standing in the way of that? Crushing that really: one man Hakeem Olajuwon.
And Zach Randolph has been a selfish brat for most of his regular season career. Playoffs are where you make your reps, as he should prove to you.
To the thread starter, are you aware that during the regular season match ups, Hakeem and Robinson wouldn't guard each other full time due to foul trouble since they were too valuable to their teams? I remember Reid, Carr and Rodman would often take turns on Hakeem while OT would spend some time on Mermaid. In the late 90s and early 00s, the Rockets were not a great team while Robinson had the benefit of playing next to a guy named Tim Duncan so that explains why the Spurs usually won those games. Dream was also on the decline ever since he got surgery on his knee late in 1997. Hakeem owned him when it mattered. It's a good thing Robinson won MVP too since that served as motivation for Dream. They should have re-opened the voting after the series, though.
That's just media hype IMHO. Ewing was clearly a notch lower than Robinson, its just that his NY team spoonfeed him PT and shots so the NY media could have their own "superstar". Anyway, back on topic the Rockets got owned by the Spurs, not Robinson owned Olajuwon. Another poster already compiled their individual regular season stats, and both of them were identical so its not like you can say Robinson dominated Hakeem in the regular season. Using team wins/losses to say who dominated who would be like saying Adam Morrison dominated Kevin Durant because the Lakers won most games against the Thunder when he was still with the team.
Oh my god... are you serious? Mr Robinson's neighborhood was a marketing tool by Nike. You've got to be kidding me. If Dream ever had the marketing behind him that Robinson had, not even a Spurs fan would dare bring any of this stuff up. Plus Robinson was a ref's darling. The number of times that Robinson faced up and drew a phantom foul on a dunk or a layup was ridiculous. Hell Dream practically had three fouls to start each game against Robinson. It was a joke.
I think you are the FIRST person to suggest that point. But again, there is always an exception, and you are one. It's ok. However, I do agree that David Robinson was one of the best players to ever play the game. His playoff defeat to Hakeem kind of diminish his legacy a little bit.
