Where does this "Morey is after Bosh" talk come from? ...I, for one, hope it's not true.

And what if the "best available deal" is an offer that is less attractive than keep McGrady and then either re-signing him or letting his contract expire?

Come on, man. You can't just say that a guy will be traded no matter what. Morey will do whatever is best for the Rockets. If no offer for T-Mac is worth it, then he won't trade him. Even if Tracy is a malcontent on this team (which I'm not saying that he will be), then just sending him home, suspending him or even waiving him would be preferable to trading him for a package that is bad for the team.

Rox are done with shemac, who killed the VC trade last year. One cm on a non weight bearing part of his knee. Surgery was not needed per 4 specialist, until he paid another specialist some money to do the surgery and keep everything under wraps. Insurance will pay his salary until he is able to play. I say F#@! him for that selfish move.

    I don't get it.

    Scola is better than Lee.
    Lee is younger than Scola.

So you want to get younger right? ok...but wait...

    Nash is better than Brooks.
    Nash is older than Brooks.

    So that kills the idea.

How is Scola better than David Lee? Among other things, Lee:

    - Scores more efficiently. His career percentages are absolutely unreal, so it's hard to claim he's just another chucker dependent on Dantoni's system. In fact, David Lee's career True Shooting Percentage of .608 would put him at #9 on the all-time NBA leaderboard (just above Brent Barry who I'm surprised is that high), except he doesn't have enough points to qualify yet.

    - Rebounds at a higher rate. Lee was 7th in the NBA in Total Rebound Percentage last year, 3 spots ahead of Scola, so again, he's excellent even when you take into account NYK's faster pace.

And those are supposed to be Scola's biggest strengths. I don't really have any desire to sign Lee, since I'd rather we used our resources to upgrade another position, but still, he's a damn good player.

Scola is a guy you can go to in the post. Lee is a garbage man. He gets his points off of rebounds, drives of teammates.

For what we need (a post presence), Scola is the man. Lee just isn't a keystone on a good offense. It's just not the kind of player he is. Scola will be our post this season and he will be a good one. With Yao out, he is going to shine the most.

I bet Scola gets offers next offseason as a restricted free agent, Lee has not received any offers this offseason in that situation.

    Should tell you something...

Someone will want him, and be blinded by his "what could be" talent.....

Who has the contracts/DM players to offer to make a deal like that happen?

Who do you have in mind DD?

If you trade Scola, you have no post up game for a at least a year while Yao is out.

Easy. Morey trades him for another expiring + a first round pick. The other team gets a guy who'll play like he's got something to prove (Tracy loves the drama), and his new team can get a hired gun for the playoffs, and all they have to give up is a low first round pick. A pick that won't mean much to them but will be extremely valuable to us, because we've got a GM who knows to to work the lottery to maximum benefit.

I am growing a little weary of the pipe dreams. There is nothing out there to constitute Lee coming to Houston. If you want to post random scenarios in which contracts simply match use the random trade thread. Does trading McGrady's contract for a bunch of players that wouldn't start on the Rockets make sense? Nope. Are Lee's stats inflated because of the offense he is in? You betcha.

So I guess it's fair to say...

If your offense is good, and you don't need a "keystone": Lee is better (more efficient scorer, better rebounder, doesn't need the ball in his hands, etc)

If your offense isn't so good, and you do need someone to be the "keystone": Scola is better (like you said, better post game, better 1 on 1 game in general)

You think the Heat would give up Beasley for him? If we wanna go young, he is the only potential superstar out there, that could be had imo...

That is the reason he could be had for cheap(Tmac). :)
