This guy keeps proving the theory that the world is becoming one big joke. How did he get this job, did someone use magical 8-ball or something to decide who would be the next GM of T-Wolves?
C-Webb is a very very smart guy, smarter than what most people give him credit for. Webb and Vlade were teammates, and they were the one two combo of that SAC team. Both players were great passers and had great synergy. To compare a no name like Darko to Vlade would obviously be an insult to C-Webb.
Webber took it personally when Kahn compared his career to Darko. I see the point Kahn was making though, Webber's career took some time to take off and he was a disappointment of a high pick. Webber fought with his coach in Golden State, had run ins with the law in Washington, and didn't put it all together until he got to Sacramento. He made the playoffs once? with Washington in his early career, never winning a playoff game. Webber bounced around quite a bit for a #1 overall draft pick with his talent. The difference between Webber's early career and Darko's is that Webber still put up big numbers on bad teams. Darko can't even get on the floor for the Knicks. So Kahn should have prefaced his comparison by saying that Darko doesn't have 1/10 Webber's talent, but might end up being a late bloomer and having a better career late than early.
Comparing C-Webb an ALL-STAR to Darko who's an obvious inferior NBA talent is just stupid. You can easily see why the T-Wolves aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Kahn is a joke.
Not the greatest interview as I think Chris could have handled the Darko comparison differently. Anyway, Webber didn't have team success until he got to the Kings but he always had a positive impact. Here's his personal stats before he got to the kings and one year of the Kings. Almost 20/10/4 average. Pretty great from a numbers perspective. You really shouldn't see a point, though. As has been mentioned, he didn't have great team success until Sacto but he was a very good player. Even with Nelson being an idiot and thinking he sucked Webber put up close to 18 and 10 with 2 bpg. Then in Washington he battled some injury issues but it still was 10 years before he averaged under 20 ppg. He was always a good rebounder, he was always a good passer for a big (Adelman's system made him a great passer). So Kahn saying it took Webber a while to find his groove and likening it to Darko is absurd. It took Webber to find his near MVP groove, but it did not take him any time to prove that he belonged on an NBA court and, further, was above average. Darko struggled with proving he belongs at all.
Don't bag on Kahn he's a hero, he proved to the world that it doesn't matter if you know what you're doing, if you believe in yourself you can become an NBA GM.
playing the jazz next year now that this guy gave al jefferson to them is going to be a nightmare. I still dont think yao has stopped him once, and now he has a legit team..
Kahn is an idiot with a fetish for collecting point guards. He must have some dirt on Taylor or something.
The end of the video had me rolling. Webber looks down and says "good luck". It felt like he was really saying "you just proved to me that you are an idiot and your team is screwed".
I really don't think the Wolves can do much with the "talent" of Darko. Just looking at what they've been able to do with their draft picks and other talent, this team is pretty bad at developing players. Looking at guys like Randy Foye, Ramon Sessions, Corey Brewer, going back to Joe Smith, this team doesn't know how to develop young talent. And they have flopped in developing other "talents" like Gerald Green, Ndudi Ebi, Rashad McCants, Kirk Snyder, Sebastian Telfair, Rodney Carney, Shelden Williams, etc. I don't think it'll be much different with Milicic. They've had some success lately with Flynn and Love, but looking at the entire history it seems they've been unable to develop a single all-star player, other than Kevin Garnett.
exactly kahn shouldnt have used webber as an example, webber took it the wrong way. maybe webber isnt all that professional but kahn as a gm should be.
