Interesting story by David Frum, a Canadian and former George W Bush speechwriter and a conservative frustrated by the recent GOP insanity.

    Thoughts:

    1. Good that Rick Snyder has come up with a solution.

    2. It does not seem to make any sense that the donor list of lobby groups are not made public. If donating money is political speech to be protected by law, you really shouldn't hide behind the veil of secrecy while making your speech.

    3. Some Tea Party activists might be sincerely trying to participate in a grass roots movement, but the movement seems quite vulnerable to being used by corporate interests like the Lord of the Crossing.

It sounds like a good solution but I also agree this is an embarrassment to the state of Michigan in regard to relationships with the Canadians. It basically shows that the Michigan can't get anything done on their own.

I agree but many will fight tooth and nail against disclosure by citing a right to privacy. It is somewhat ironic that conservatives have argued against that right but will cite it in situations like this.

Not surprising at all and I don't think this is the first time that the Tea Party has been used by corporate interest and it won't be the last.

Whom or what I choose to donate money to is none of your business.

You're free to dismiss speech from sources that don't reveal donors, and encourage others to do so as well.

They got the bridge without raising taxes did they not?

David Frum earns his income passing himself off as a conservative criticizing other conservatives. He's what you might call a stooge, or a useful idiot. David Brooks falls into this category as well. (Fox News has their own stooges to pose as Dems and criticize them). They get invited on all the MSM shows to represent the "conservative viewpoint". On the web we would call him a concern troll. He has no influence with anyone on the side he purports to represent, he just gets linked to by the left.

"No True Scotsman is a logical fallacy by which an individual attempts to avoid being associated with an unpleasant act by asserting that no true member of the group they belong to would do such a thing. Instead of acknowledging that some members of a group have undesirable characteristics, the fallacy tries to redefine the group to exclude them. Sentences such as "all members of X have desirable trait Y" then become tautologies, because Y becomes a requirement of membership in X. "
