so it seems right now...people looking for someone to complain about, and yao isn't starting his season as soon as dc is. Regardless of the line, I still expect to see improvement from Carr this year again. I realize a line would mean more improvement--possibly a lot more. But I'll be happy if he can show something.

Also, I don't think an 8-8 season means the end of Capers. It depends on who we lose to, I think. If we can start to show some consistency in beating the teams we're "supposed to"...I think he's safe. Then again, if we do that and win 1 or 2 more, that probably equates to more than 8 wins (haven't looked at the sched. closely, just guessing)

I've wondered why the Texans haven't drafted a QB in the 3rd-4th-5th round, or signed decent FA QB (one that could realistically start, not a Tony friggin' Banks) in order to show David Carr that though we love him, we're not going to sit through another 3-4 years of mediocrity. I think that might be the motivating factor that could push him to the pro bowl level.

People aren't complaining about Carr they just want him to step. AJ has already made the pro-bowl, Robinson should have been defensive rookie of the year, when healthy a fourth round pick is able to rush for a hundred yards behind this supposed piss-poor line.

I think sometimes people forget that this guy was the number one overall pick in the draft. They just want him to start to play like it.

Carr needs to go back in the garage where he belongs. BJ is the answer, and every one in the "know" in the Texans camp is aware of this.

As long as Carr is at the Texans' helm, we will perenially be an 8-8 team AT BEST.

It's time to trade in a Carr at blue book value, and go with a true "Techsan".

I'm pretty sure Carr would run laps around Ragone's performance at NFL Europe if he was allowed to play with that team.

Some of you are talking like Carr has regressed... in similiar fashion to our beloved 7'6 import, Carr has steadily improved each of the last three years on an expanision team with a non-existent offensive line. Guys who have been flat out awful (on much better teams) include Joey Harrington and Patrick Ramsey.

I agree that this year will be a BIG year in determining his overall career (just like it will be with Yao's), but to say that he should have been doing much more these previous two years is a little bit far-fetched (unless you envisioned that just one good reciever, a decent RB, and a decent cornerback... with no offensive line, no defensive sacking ability, and marginal special teams... were going to give us contender status).

I wasn't dismissing Carr's play....just pointing out that BJ isn't going to see much time now that Ragone has experience.

Perhaps you should ask Carr how much longer he can put up with no protection.

I've been a season ticket holder since the start and am sick of our line. McKinney is not a true center. The whole Boseli thing. Pitts jumping off sides. Is Wand up for the job or not? The make shift right side. The whole thing sucks.

Let's invest in a line and shop for a new offensive coordinator/line coach.

Im not a big Texans fan but ive watched my fair share of their games. Carr will never live up to his draft status. This team must become a run first team because the Carr cant carry the load.(hehe)The offense is a mess with too many QB's and RB's and not enough O-Line. Im not sold on any of the QB's and RB's either.Hes no Big Ben.

Big Ben was at the right place at the right time. The Steelers were one of the top running teams in football, had the best defense in the AFC, and Ben had Hines, Plaxico, and Randle El to throw to. If Ben was with the Texans last year he wouldn't look all that great.

The games where the Steelers lost where when the opponents shut down the run and made it Big Ben's show.

I love David Carr. I totally believe in him, and give him all my support. I think he will be a great one. The Texans struggles, I believe, lie mostly with the timid, coward, conservative playcalling of Brown and Capers and the inability of the line to freakin' block. DC is the man!

Give Carr an decent offensive line and he does live up to his #1 pick status. I've seen him make some amazing plays on those rare occasions when he has more than 2 seconds to make a throw. His delivery is ugly, but it gets the job done. He has a very strong arm and he's very accurate when given time in the pocket.

I think the coaching staff is as much to blame for Carr's supposed underachieving as the O line. We need more quick hitting pass plays. I mean like slants and crossing routes, not RB screens and dumpoffs. It seems like all of our pass plays take too much time to develop. Time the O line can't give Carr.

If teams are going to play the dreaded Cover 2 against us (and they are since we can't seem to find a way to combat it  ) with the safeties playing back to guard against the long ball, that's when you get the ball to AJ underneath on a quick slant route against 1 on 1 coverage. AJ is strong enough to break tackles and gain yardage. That will force the safeties to come up and then we can throw the long ball.

GOD, I love football! When does the season start already?!?!?

Carr better perfom, I got his freakin' jersey... ;)

In all seriousness, if he had the time, his stats would be incredible...However, having said that, its time for him to perform...

I think he could be a qb for 10 years at this level and maybe even get into the superbowl. I don't think he's been bad enough were he would no longer be a starter in the league. I'd like to see him get better, but agree with others, the conservative playcalling in holding him back. The Texans may not win a superbowl with Carr airing it out, but I think they improve because of it. It's almost as if the team just needs to loosen up a bit before they start to tighten the screws down.

Take it for what it's worth, but if I were the Texans I would wait on Carr, he has an excellent brain type for quarterbacks. :D

ENTJ - Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging

As an ENTJ he is one of the SMARTER quarterbacks, he's a born leader, Steve Young and Roger Staubach are ENTJ's and their games were similar in some ways to Carr.

For instance; ENTJs, when mobile, will run for some first downs because they realize that interceptions can be avoided by running instead of forcing a pass. Carr will take off before forcing a pass for a first down, 1/3 of his rushing attempts were for first downs, Young and Staubach were also running quarterbacks.

They HATE making mistakes and they will usually take the less risky pass, they strive to have high pass completion percentages. Some have criticized him for not throwing it deep, well besides some questionable play calling, he really doesn't want to if it's not wide open or if the risk is too great. Good thing he has a guy that can break some long runs after the catch, like Young had with Jerry Rice. Carr's completion percentages aren't that great, but I wouldn't be surprised if you see a big improvement in that area IF his line protects him.

The two top quarterbacks drafted in this past draft, Smith and Rogers I think, are ENTJs.

Another personality trait of ENTJs that is shown in Carr are his efforts in breast cancer research, he's trying to lead even in that, other ENTJ leaders of the past and present include presidents! George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Collin Powell, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Martin Luther King Jr. and others are ENTJs, now their values, interests, and styles of leadership varies, but they are still leading ENTJs.

So, keep him, protect him and let him lead, fans don't get too discouraged he'll come around.

This is what they have allegedly been working on this offseason. I guess we'll see. I have to think that anything less than 9-7 gets Capers and his staff fired. Carr cannot be blamed for the unimaginative play calling, the horrid state of the offensive line, and the lack of talent (other than AJ) at the WR position.
