Dude, why would someone call your post racist??? It has nothing to do with race. However, I think you are ill informed about M.Vick as a passer. He has a cannon. He just doesnt rely on it. Given his talents, why should he? He is as accurate as D.Carr. Why call a player who has taken his team to the playoffs more than once a bust? At the same time give a player who's QB rating is 12.5 and never had a winning season the benefit of doubt. I will never understand this. Vick will play in more Playoff games then Carr ever will.

David Carr is a quarterback with plenty of talent who still has both no O line and a coach in Capers that is way too conservative.
Once these issues are resolved I believe he will blossom into a Pro Bowler.

David Carr's numbers have been terrible since the second half of last season. Go look it up, he had some awesome games in the first half of 04. So the apologist need to get off the O-Line. It isn't the only problem. Something is going on with him. He's regressing.

The funny thing about Carr is you have to ask is this guy really a franchise QB. I mean, how many of us heard of him before the Texans started eyeing him.

Did he say that on his way to the press conference to get it cut or after he made a big deal about not cutting it until two consecutive wins?

Francis won 45 games with a starting five of Cuttino Mobley, Shandon Anderson, Mo Taylor, and 38 year old Olajuwon. When did he play on an above average team in Houston? What were the Rockets like with McGrady, MoTaylor, and Jim Jackson, oh that's right <.500. Francis may not have made the All-Star team but 21 5 and 7 wasn't an average season.

I love the passionate debate Fabio stirs up amongst the Texans faithful.

i didn't ask you to sit back and say i'm right. disagree with me all you like. i have never pretended to be always right.

i find the comparison to be worthless however, when you start talking about the worth of one player in one sport relative to another player in an entirely different sport. i don't think you can measure the worth of a pg in the NBA vs. a QB in the NFL and have it make any sense whatsoever.

Francis has no business in this discussion at all. There's so much harping on Steve Francis here. Enough.

the vick argument is a whole other argument. when his team NEEDS him to throw...he can't. see the NFC championship as exhibt A. Carr's QB rating was higher than Vick's last season. And that's not saying much.

i'm on record saying i think carr has regressed. that he has problems.

francis is gone. it's history. move on.

the comparison sucks. there isn't one, unless you're talking about public perceptions. in terms of real production, comparing NFL QB's to NBA PG's is beyond silly.

But Vick's Team WAS IN THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. When was the last time Atlanta was there without him? Vick had an 81 passer rating his second season in the league, and a lot of his passing problems were due to learning a new offense. And Vick's a full year younger than Carr.

i KNEW you'd bite on the Vick argument! :)

Vick's been in the league a full year longer. Vick has never had a higher passing rating in any season that Carr did last season. I'M NOT SAYING CARR IS A MORE VALUABLE QB THAN MICHAEL VICK!!!!!! I am saying Vick is very limiting if you need to move the ball down field quickly through the air.

And I love, love, love Vince Young. I watched him play in high school. I love the Horns. But I wouldn't spend a #1 pick on the guy thinking he's going to play QB for me...for the very same reasons I wouldn't do that with Vick.

By the way...Atlanta was in the NFC champioship and the Super Bowl in the late 90's with Chris Chandler. Another example of how a marginal QB can get there with a very good surrounding cast...particularly on the other side of the ball.

Let me get this straight ~ there are people on this board who wouldn't want to select Vince Young with a top pick (probably #1) because we already have Carr?

no..i wouldn't want to select vince young with a #1 pick because there'd be other options which would be better with that pick.

    AND I LOVE VINCE YOUNG!!!

Thank You. People on this board bash Francis like he is Matt Maloney or something. He gave everything he had on the court and put up some very good stats. T-Mac is a better player so thats why he lead the Rockets to a 50+ win season but Francis is one heck of a talent.

Why are you going on about Francis in a David Carr thread?

Francis is gone. Get over it.

matt leinart will go #1. he's already playing a pro style offense carving up the competition.

and if i'm the texans, a QB ain't what i'm shopping for first. we learned that lesson already, right?

I'd much rather the Texans get a sure fire dominate LT like Ferguson than draft another QB. The QB position is just too risky. I didn't research this number, but it seems like on average only 50% of QBs drafted in the 1st round live up to expectations.

Is Vince Young going to be a quarterback in the NFL? He's a tremendous athlete, and has a great arm, but he looks like such an awkward passer. Sometimes the ball looks like it comes out below his shoulder level.
