to be fair, he commented over and over again that he couldn't understand why people were so interested in his hair.
Nah he is not like Francis. Francis is one of the most exciting and most talented pg's in the league. David Carr is neither of those. Carr is an average player while Francis is like a 4 time All Star. Carr is more like Big Country. Lots of hype and little results.
Well... when Francis finally played on an average/below average team, he was no longer an all-star, was considered as an even bigger head case, the "talent" he once had could easilly be confused for athleticism (which not all men have once they get older), and in the end he's gonna be the answer to a really good trivia question in a few years... and that's it ("who was the best player that the Rockets had to give up for the HOFer Tracy McGrady... answer, NBA journeyman Steve Francis).
They're absolutely responsible. He doesn't have to throw into triple coverage if he can regularly throw to Johnson. He can't. Why? Because opposing defenses never have to use their secondary to blitz the Texans. They get enough pressure with the front four and a couple of linebackers, and thus Carr is going against more people in the secondary than most other quarterbacks. Occasionally Carr has to throw into double or triple coverage or Johnson won't even have a chance to make a play. Also, if the offensive line did their jobs, the running backs wouldn't have as many blockers to be responsible for. Also, I don't think everyone knows that the offensive line is this bad. Considering there are some in this very thread that think Vince Young or Matt Leinart are better than Carr, it's pretty obvious that some would rather get a new quarterback before fixing the offensive line. And that's sad.
I'll add two more silly NBA to NFL comparisons... David Carr is more like Mike Bibby, he will have zero impact on a bad team, could be the difference on a good team. Francis is more like Chad Johnson, great talent, but in the long run there's only so much impact a PG or WR can have on a team, if they're not among the absolute elite.
I agree that Francis played much better when he was in Houston but don't compare David Carr to Steve Francis. The only bad talk about Francis is that he hotdogs alot and he may not hustle everytime on the floor but David Carr is an average QB and will always be an average QB. Francis can give you 21, 6, and 6 every single night. You may not like him but you can't say that Francis sucks. David Carr on the other hand hasn't shown any signs that he can be mention as an elite qb.
You are misunderstanding what I meant, although my brevity didn't help. Like Francis, Carr has the physical talent to be one of the best at his position. That's why both were high picks. Like Francis, Carr hasn't shown the mental fortitude to be able to step into the elite at his position. Like Francis, you can make a ton of excuses as to why Carr hasn't been able to make the leap, but bottom line is that he hasn't. Difference is, Francis has been able to put up better stats and lead a team to mediocrity, but that's a little easier to do in a sport that's more centered around individual as opposed to team.
this may be the most worthless comparison ever. the respective sports are ENTIRELY different. entirely. entirely. entirely. trying to make a direct comparison about the worth of one player juxtaposed against the worth of another in two different sports is...well..silly. there are some valid comparisons between sports...but this isn't one of them.
DON'T EVER CALL ANYTHING MADMAX POSTS WORTHLESS. NEVER. Everyone just be grateful that the Texans aren't counting on Kyle Boller, okay?
Bingo! Vince is like Mike Vick... great in college but needs a few years to be a good QB, and not just a RB with a decent passing ability. (Vick is the bust when it comes to pure QB ability.) Carr will blossom given time, and if surrounded with more talent. I see Capers going before Carr. (and before anyone tries to claim that's a racist point of view, my favorite QB ever was Moon... he just never had a defense to back him up... But that's another thread.)
Yeah think what you wanna think. You just called my post worthless and Im suppose to sit back and say "Oh yeah max you're correct" Are you crazy. Some posters on here might kiss your ass but not me.
Mike Vick is the most important player in the entire league to his team. Look at atlanta w/o him and w/ him, they are garbage without him. He pretty much kept Va. Tech in the game with Florida State a few years back. Who cares if he isn't a great passing QB, he is a play maker unlike a lot of QB who are good passers. I think if VY is as good is mike vick he should be the no. 1 pick.
