Casserley won't back down though. I think he had VY out of his top ten qb's under the age of 25 after the Giants game.
Mr. Carr meet Mr. Courtney Brown and Tim Couch. Yes you guys were release by your original team after being number 1 picks...my god...
Thats also a testament to how the new expansion teams had ZERO margin for error (after the NFL rule changes b/c of jax and carolina). Then again, both teams were terribly mismanaged.
I expect to hear a lot of this type of reaction in the months to come. By releasing David Carr, it opens them up to the charge that the Texans are admitting that they did make a mistake last year by passing on Leinart, Cutler & Young. Just wait until CBS has Charley "The GM" Casserly on the air pontificating about what has gone down. I can guarantee that the venom on this board will spew forth in volumes.
I though people were outraged that all they were being offered was 4th & 5th round picks for Carr. It just goes to show that the more things change, the more they remain the same. BTW ima, I just got back from Atlanta and the mood there is like they had hit the lotto. On Saturday, you could buy Vick jerseys on the street by the Olympic Park so I suppose that the love affair continues...for now. Justice was right on one count: Atlanta has far too much invested in Vick to back down now but it will be ugly over there if they don't win. I am taking a wait-and-see approach to this trade because nothing will be known until Schaub steps on the field and gets tested against the teams in this division.
Yeah, that's why this move will be used and harped on to show the Texans as football idiots for years to come until they can break through in their division and start winning some games. And beating VY & the Titans would be a good start. I just hope that for once, this time, a team actually learns something from its little exercise in hubris and vows to never make that sort of mistake again. If that happens, at least the Houston franchise will have something over the Dallas one in that respect.
Mario Williams + Matt Shaub + 10th pic in the 1st round versus VY + 2007 2nd, + 2008 2nd, + 2007 8th pic in the 1st round It's really to soon to tell which package is greater. Mario will be in his second year, Schaub is still an unknown, plus the value of those draft picks will be unknown for some time. With Young give defensive coordinators a year to game plan against him then lets find out how good he is. The term Sophomore jinx was created for QB's for a reason
I can't believe we couldn't get jack for DC...Not even a 4th...crazy... DD was expected as there was no way he can take up that roster spot... Ok, I know hindsight is 20/20, but damn, couldn't they have done this when all of us were saying draft VY (obligatory we should have drafted VY statement)... Doesn't Sage wear number 8? If so, all I need is ducktape and a majic marker...
