No worries man, no offence taken, just a bit embarrassed my self Thought my english was better than that. The most important thing is that the Rockets will understand that people expect them to take it seriously and make a true effort for a championship. Vipers style offense is nice for some people to see maybe, but it won't get you through 1st round in the playoffs
Our offense has been predictable, sloppy & stagnant in postseason for 2 years in a row. What's the use of having a top tier offense when it doesn't carry over to the playoffs?
The "sloppy" offense in the playoffs actually produced very well this post-season. Houston's ORtg vs. Portland (whose defense in the regular season was ranked 17th) was 114.8 per 100 possessions based on the formular used by basketball-reference.com. This is higher than what the Spurs produced against Portland. http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_2014.html The issue was that the defense allowed Portland to score 114.4 points per 100 possessions. There are things to be addressed on offense, and of course if you can make a change-- in tactics or personnel -- that makes a highly rated offense even more efficient, you do it, but the problem on that end is not nearly as great as the problem on the defensive end.
False. The Rockets offense was very good in the playoffs. The defense? It was bad and I am sure will get better with more time to gel, but the question is how much better... 3 of the 5 starters are bad (Parsons) or really bad (Harden & Jones).
There's something in this. Blatt is much like Popovic (except the experience). On the one hand he is very analytical and, on the other hand, he is very emotional. He gets really involved in the game. He can make a bunch of mediocre players play really well as a team (like SA). I'm not sure Casspi is Blatt's favorite type of player. However, I think Casspi is a better player than he is getting the credit of. In fact I can see Casspi ending up in SA and Pop will beat Casspi to a really good player. Casspi plays well as a stretch 4. He deteriorated when he was put back at 3 after DMo took his minutes at 4.
I don't see why the defense will improve simply by giving the team more time to gel. They had an entire season together(and a lot of those guys were holdovers from the prior year), but they were awful defensively in April. And no, Kelvin Sampson leaving is not a valid excuse for the dropoff. If an assistant coach's departure causes your entire team to suddenly forget fundamental things like boxing out on rebounds and running back on defense, you've got serious issues.
Speaking of coaching staff additions, what about... http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on...t-with-phil-jackson-wants-to-coach-in-the-nba
I remember the Rockets trying to sell us on Finch continuing the Adelman offense after they got rid of Rick, based on Finch supposedly running it with RGV. We of course know that never happened. Finch does what Morey tells him to do, period. It will be the same with any assistant coach they hire.
Unfortunately I agree with you but still hoping I'm wrong. Seems like Morey is determined to prove that his experiment with the Vipers can work in the big league. We'll, it can't. You can't expect running the ball with no guidance and direction and get a championship. It will be like taking a wild horse, even if it would be the fastest in the world, and expect it to win a race. You might be thinking you're winning at some point but without the right strategy you will be finishing with your tongue out and collapse just before the finish line. The coaching staff, and realistically we're talking head assistant at this point, must be the best you can find to get the Rockets to its full potential. Blatt can start as assistant, get a feel of the team and take control next season after promoting Mchale to president or front office job.
Cannot see the fascination with Hollins. It was not Hollins who made the Grizz so tough on D, it was Joerger. Ask any of the Grizz players. I would rather bring Joerger, Ron Adams or even Blatt to help McHale. JD brings nothing to the table and Finch is just biding his time. If McHale does not want a proven coach like Blatt, Joerger or Adams, then why not someone that he trusts like Fred Hoiberg. Any way you cut it, McHale needs help and the current staff is not up to snuff.
David Blatt has announced that he is leaving Maccabi Tel Aviv and is heading to the NBA. I guess that we will know in a few days if Houston is in the picture.
so as fans from other teams. he's kind of a consensus! cavs fans thread about him: http://www.realcavsfans.com/showthread.php?44231-David-Blatt-Safari lakers fans: http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=168788&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Warriors fans: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1325796&sid=45da45ccb687d6460a91776f82727d43
I'm with you... Would rather have Hollins anyway. But Hollins would totally disagree with the Rockets offensive philosophy and Morey may not like that.
Its funny when this thread was posted a few days ago, most of the answers for the poll was "who?", the last couple of days I think fans all over the league want him to come and coach their team. I reckon he already knows where he's going, unless Morey was really sneaky about it, I don't think he's coming to H town. Hope we'll get someone decent and not Finch and the "Only Offense" guys
Maybe and, therefore, let's hope he goes to Cleveland. Unfortunately I don't see him coming to Houston. If he ends up in the Warriors, Houston may have a problem. Blatt is very good in operating wings and he would have a lot of them with the Warriors. Blatt knows how to play Popovic type of Euro-ball, which creates huge number of uncontested 3-point opportunities. With the number of shooters he would have with the Warriors, they would be an extremely high scoring team. I think he would be an excellent investment for Houston, but my guess at the moment is that he goes to Cleveland. Boy, will he have a lot to do there, but he might be the guy who can turn that team around.
