Money is no object for Prokhorov. He puts his money where his mouth is. Les? Les just talks.

I have enough money but not enough championships. Hey Dwight, we're gonna spend and we're willing to go into the LT! (Never mind, he's done it once in the last 15 seasons, ha.)

    Good question.
    Here's your answer.
@ShowMeTheMorey: "@EricPincus: Nets payroll at $101,263,102 all guaranteed salary $82,939,184 tax = $184,202,286 total" Good Lawd!

I'm curious to see what kind of contract Parsons get. What do you guys think?

If we wanted to make room, can't we just sign anyone already on the roster for a one year deal worth the max then trade him to the other team to match the salaries. This way we can go over the salary cap. We can give the other team extra picks or something to make up for the one year of paid salary to someone that doesn't have the skills to justify it.

I'll take the Rockets roster over that one any day of the week. We destroyed them on the court twice last seasons and with the addition of grandpa Garnett and Grandpa Pierce to go along with a rookie coach, I don't see them being much bettter.

The Rockets have done a 100 times better at putting their roster together than what the Nets have done. So I'm not going to start bashing Les for not throwing out millions for over the hill players when the team is still trying to maintain some bit of cap flexablilty for a player that legitimately takes the team to the next level.

BTW, that passing on D12 to save money is nothing but speculation. The Rockets will have Parsons bird rights and could have easily sign and traded for Josh Smith while signing Parsons to a 10 million dollar contract next summer and still staying under the tax threshold. The Rockets have regularly worked with a team salary beyond the cap and close to the threshold. So that report is total false rumors because Les has already proven he is more than willing to go over the cap since he has done it regularly over the years.

It's not how much you spend. It's how you spend it.

NYK, Dallas, Brooklyn, LAL have put together whack teams with large payrolls in the past.

So, let's see - - the only way to get Smith was by having an SnT effected with the Lakes and/or Hawks including Lin and/or Asik. Right? Of course right.

    So, where's the financial issue?

Smith was not the chosen one.

Parsons could be our 3rd all star!

I think the Rockets believe that they have already found their 3rd All Star in Parsons. I believe he will continue to improve to an all star level but only if Mchale pushes him to be more aggressive!

Remember that Josh Smith wasn't only gonna cost you $14M/year, he was also likely going to cost you Omer Asik or at least Lin plus a couple of young guys since you have to do a sign and trade and match salaries. Smith is a fine player but I understand that Morey may prefer holding onto his assets and look for a third star elsewhere.

Just a matter of opportunity cost.

    new CBA is a joke.
That Russian guy or Lakers or Knicks does not care about the money. The new TAX rules are just for killing the small markets.

It's a waiting game. I would be surprised if any definitive decision about Parsons contract has been made by now.

My guess is him getting the extension in 2014 is contingent on the Rockets aquiring another star sometime this season or next offseason. Next year's PF class includes:

    Dirk Nowitzki
    Greg Monroe
    Pau Gasol
    Derrick Favors
    Zach Randolph

2014 would require that we trade both Lin and Asik, and waive our MLE. 2015 is more impressive to me...

    Kevin Love
    Lamarcus Aldridge

    My plan would be to:
    1) NOT extend Parsons in 2014
    2) use a small portion of your MLE in 2014 to sign Kostas Papanikolaou to a 3 year deal
    3) waive your rights to Lin and Asik in 2015
    4) Trade DMo and TJones in 2015.
    5) Sign Lamarcus Aldridge out of 2015 free agency.
    6) Resign Parsons and Beverley with their Bird rights in 2015

    Beverley / Canaan
    Harden /
    Parsons / Papanikolaou
    Aldridge / ?
    Howard / Aldridge

I've checked the math on all of this......it works.

    What could change all this....

    a) Rockets trade for a 3rd star
    b) One of the Rockets young players (Canaan, Parsons, Beverley, TJones, DMo, Llull) develops into a 3rd star

lex should have gotten into the stonewashed jeans business not the wine.

" I want to have my name on the back of chick's asses." prokhorov or manny from scarface cannot remember who said that. =)

    pay him, lex.

BS. The Lakers were gonna amnesty Pau if they retained Dwight.

And still not one of those teams will win a title next year.

    So don't sweat it.

So sick of seeing "trade for a 3rd star"

Parson is the 3rd star. I expect he'll be a borderline All-Star caliber player next season.

Honestly if there's one player who could just break out and become a star, it would be Parsons.

Passing up on Josh Smith will be one of the best decisions that Daryl Morey's made for this team.
