Believe that will work but I can't see them dumping Taylor. I think Taylor's SL performance might change people's mind. I'm not saying he's an all star stud like Chase ;) , but he does has some talent.

    Eeeek

Morey just saved Leslie Alexander 5 million dollars next season!!!! The man earns his pay!!

    Anders < Beasley (my opinion)

    Anderson = Beasley (Reality)

I agree, but if he is not going to play on the Rox, and he would count double, I could see the team moving him somewhere else, couldn't you?

Has Toronto ever been good? Were they good 5 years ago? No one wants to play in Toronto, and acquiring 2nd rate overseas players isn't going to bring them into contention any time soon.

Andersen cost the Rockets $2.5M for his rights and a 2nd pick to the Hawks.
To send him to Toronto they sent cash, likely the max allowed, and the Rockets are unlikely to receive the pick Toronto traded in return.

I am going to have to disagree with the "salary dump" theory.

I think Jared Jeffries and Shane Battier are FAR to valueable as the only decently sized expiring contracts. If we are going to upgrade a positon down the line, we will need these guys. Dumping them for nothing is the last option, IMO.

Andre Iguodala, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Danny Granger, etc, Daryl will hold onto these contracts because they have significant value to crappy teams that need to rebuild...

Young assets + Expiring contracts = Player upgrade from a crappy team...

Well, this one was a gimme, wasn't it? I thought Chicago made more sense because they were considering Miller (a big with range) and were under the cap. Oh well, I was close.

I'd love to know how much cash went to Toronto...

I could see them moving him. Don't get me wrong... My feeling is this... if Morey can't make a deal happen to improve this team, I do believe he'll work a way to get under the cap. There's no reason to pay for the luxury tax for a middle of pack playoff team.

But I do see the David Anderson move kinda differently then others. Although I'm certain they moved him to cost some luxury tax cost, I think it's more about relieving the pressure of having to make something happen come February. What I mean by this is if Houston strikes out on making a deal to improve the team, teams will try and use this as leverage against Houston to get more out of them. They'll know Houston is trying to get under and want more for it. It's smart business.

Agreed, IF any of them shake loose...but if they are not shaking loose, or the Rockets are not in the running, then I think they dump one of those contracts to get under the taxline.

IMO, this move added MAJOR flexibility to Morey....to get under the cap....because trading Andersen for nothing takes away a piece they could use in the trade you described...

    This is 100% a Lux tax move....100%.

Exactly! Les isnt paying the lux tax for a middle of the road team. Shouldnt have never traded for him in the first place.

Where else could you pass out the "goods" along with the money and yet still be seen as a good, smart businessman?

    Morey, the anti-pimp.

He would not pay it for an elite team if he could help it, IMO. If this team is in contention at the trade deadline, but has some pieces that are not playing, like Jeffries etc....

I would bet the HOUSE that they move to get under that line.

Anderson was a winner everywhere he went. Morey brought him in, but Anderson could not thrive in Rick's system. Hence Hayes ended up being the center, shortest starting center; it was almost embarrassing to watch. Heck what are the rockets, a mid level conference team?

    But good luck to Anderson.

Center position is vastly improved over last season. Yao / Miller / Hill / Hayes (our starting center last season is now 4th on the depth list).

I agree. That's why I've been saying. You pay the luxury tax for a team that's going to contend. Les isn't Mark Cuban. Although I felt they were stupid to trade Dampier early, I still think they did upgrade the team with Chandler.

Kinda disappointed, I had a lot of expectations in him. He definitely has outstanding touch.
