It's a Clippers's pick. Raptors will only get that pick if it's no.51 to no.55, otherwise the Clippers retain it.
i agree with DD. odds are that les will salary dump from here on out until the deadline and get back under the taxline, as is his custom.
Besides the positives of being that closer to being under the luxury tax....Rockets sign Brad Miller for $5mil....then get rid of Andersens' $3mil So it's as if they're only paying $2mil this year for Brad.... I know I know...just sayin
I don't think Jeffries will meet the same fate until the trade deadline. If we do trade for a star player, Jeffries' contract would likely be involved. So Morey has to hold onto it until all hope of landing that star player is gone.
I have to disagree. This trade has little impact on the quality of the team or on the ability to make future trades. Perhaps Morey is confident that we would not need the salary for matching in future trades, and that the 3rd PG was as essential as many around here think it is. As well, we're creating some goodwill with Toronto by essentially giving them a player. Saving Les 2.5 mil plus potentially more is big, not the only reason to do this deal. IMO, Les could have easily said that Scola and/or Landry were too expense, and stuck with Andersen as the backup, through the youngsters out there, instead of getting BM. Besides all that, showing respect to the owner is a very good way to get him to trust you and be more willing to spend more money in the future. The more Les is mentioned and engaged in these sort of the things, the more he'll be willing to dedicate towards winning.
lol this is so messed up for david. came all the way to Houston from Australia, now has to go all the way to Canada . And then when a certain player decides to make his own decision and join a team he wants to join and not a team, fans, want him to join, everyone gets all upset.
i am not sure about 2nd round but i do know for 1st round pick. for example, we have NY 2012 1st round pick with top 5 protected. if we can't get it during 2012, then the deal is still valid but postponded to be excised in the following year. if still not available coz of top 5 protected, it will be postponed one more year. after 2 or 3 years (i can't remember how many year) you still can't get it. rox will get compensation with two 2nd round picks.
Looks like DD found another issue to post five thousand times in different threads. While I agree that the whole "willing to get over the lux tax" thing is probably just for marketing, I don't think Morey thanking Les for his willingness to spend is BS. Remember how we got Budinger and Taylor?
Yes, by spending $$$$ for picks.....it is very smart business. I am not complaining KevC, just trying to point out the business side to those that are interested. For the record, I would do exactly the same thing if I were them. I am just not falling for the company line of paying the tax....... DD
I think the only way they dump salary if they can't land a deal to acquire an Allstar or an upgrade for the team. Even if they dump JJ, they're still over the cap because of Hayes' deal.
Yep, Budinger, Taylor, Llull, and Andersen cost the Rockets over $8 million that year for their draft rights.
