    It's all good.

I'm guessing that this opens up a roster spot for the 3rd point guard Morey's been looking for? Ish Smith?

    32nd overall pick possibly???

Either way we know what type of gems Morey can snag with a 2nd rounder, plus it takes his salary off our books.

    Dead weight.

Actually, I think Morey was saying that Les would pay to get better, but if there is a chance to get better and save money, why wouldn't you do it. You always try to get the best opportunity.

    From this article:

"Anderson slides into the trade exception and the second-round pick that goes out is one for 2015 belonging to the Clippers and is protected Nos. 51-55."

I know but if they were unwilling to take on salary in the Bosh sign and trade, why would they take on salary just to get Andersen? I wouldn't be surprised if some money went Toronto's way.

Ah well, no 2nd round pick then. It sounds like the Raptors might have received $2.75-$3 million to buyout Andersen, allowing them to pocket an easy $.25-$.5 million; the Rockets would save $2-$2.25 million.

ding ding. It's not about being cheap, just common sense. If a guy isn't good enough to crack your 12-man roster, is making $2.5 mil and fetches you a draft pick, you'd be a fool not to trade him. No matter how high your budget is, you don't spend just for the sake of spending...

Looks like Camby's slot just opened up.

Don't get me wrong I completely agree, but when Morey consistently thanks Mr. Alexander for his willingness to spend into the Tax territory, I know it is 100% hollow, as he has never done that before, and he probably won't again this year.

I think they are close enough now to send Jeffries away in a similar deal and get under the Tax line....but one of the Tax gurus would need to answer that.

NikeStrad, Bima, or the original guy Gater.

Great trade! We didn't need him, saves us $5m, and gets us one more future asset.

Edit: ^^Diehard beat me to it!

Scratch that, I thought that the protection clause was a typo, but it really is only protected if it's within 51-55.

    1. We don't have the $$$ to sign Camby even though he brings the shot blocking we could use.
    2. We still have 5 guys under contract that can play center.
    2. Morey has stated that he wants to sign a 3rd PG. Trading away Andersen now has the Rockets having 16 guys under contract (15 is the maximum you can have signed). We can cut both Harris and Johnson (their contracts are only partially guaranteed) and sign Ish Smith or whatever 3rd string PG will sign for the money the Rockets can give.
