David Anderson will pretty much always have trouble with rebounding. He plays to weak and has no jumping ability so he will piss a lot of folks off with his inability to rebound. We have plenty of folks who can make a jumpshot ( Landry, Scola) we need a enforcer/rebounder ( Hayes with more height) and David Anderson is not it.

Until he starts at least hitting that jump shot consistently, he needs to be on the bench because he is bringing nothing to the team except fouls.

He doesn't have the athleticism to last long in the NBA.

That's my assessment. He was a desperation signing and hey, Morey isn't perfect.

He looks nervous to me..i don't think he's oblivious to how he should play, he just seems like he's defering too much, which is weird because he wasn't hesitant to pull in the preseason...

since when is athleticism the defining factor for a big man There's a lot of unathletic bigs out there who have done fine. We could have said the exact same thing about Yao his first 5 games, in fact, i'm sure it was said...i don't expect DA to improve as much defensively, but he should still improve enough

Let's revisit this topic after the all star break.

It is still way too soon to be talking about this.

Are Rockets fans really this lacking in knowledge? Look Andersen is a good player and he will be fine.............but he was like the 6th to 7th best player on those championship teams. Get real.

I didnt have high expectations for Andersen but I expected him to be productive on the offense end to make up for his horrible defense, instead he seems to be a liabilty defensively, offensively, and most importantly on the boards

I dont think he is an NBA calibur player at all and I when Scola/Hayes fouled out, I was releived this scrub wasnt put in the game

That would've been a great point to put in the opening post - Hayes/Scola fouls out, and Adelman goes to Cook over Andersen. Good catch.

Seeing as that was one of the biggest games of the year, in the clutch, and Adelman went with a guy who hasn't played all year after playing Andersen a season-low 5minutes.. I think asking if the Rockets are losing patience with him is a valid question.

    Take that back! Blasphemy!
    Jokes aside...

The Rockets can't have lost faith in him yet. With only 5 games under his belt, I think David actually showed us some interesting skills. He certainly gets foul calls in his favor on defense and offense which is nice for now. He'll start hitting his jumpshots in due time. He's won 5-7 euro championships with different teams so he's definitely got that winner's mindset. Whatever has happened over these 5 games I'm sure he's learning from them. I won't question his character, and I think it's too early for other clutchfans to do it too.

In my opinion, he was brought in mostly to spread the floor on offense. We need lane space for Brooks and Lowry to drive to the basket, and for the rest to cut to the basket at the right times. Yes, he's not helping by missing his shots but it takes time. I'm pretty sure Scola was able to shoot that elbow jumper (Juwan Howard's elbow jumper) on a regular basis before he got to the NBA, but he only really started hitting them at the end of his rookie year. DA is a better shooter so it'll happen sooner rather than later. I'm sure he's down on himself for not making shots that he should be, but that's where the winner's mentality comes in; it should help him get over the hump very soon.

He's a Morey signing and he took a pay-cut to be here, so I trust that it's going to work out. There's no issue within the Rockets management about this right now.

Only been 5 games and only the last 2 he has really stunk. Worrell was complimenting him during pre-season and in the first 2 games against portland, how he was part of the rotation that came back in the 4th in our first game and how good he did in the game against the warriors.

    @ portland - 4/8 FG and 11points in 19 minutes
    @ Goldenstate - 3/3 FG and 6 points in 9minutes
Portland - 1/3 FG and 2 points in 9 minutes

And the last 2 games against Utah and LA he's been awful. But first 2 games are very good numbers offensively.

So really, not even 5 games...2 games he's done poorly and people are bashing him as a dissapointment. To the OP, i understand your question and I dont think this is a knee jerk reaction, but it's a understandable concern if you are rooting for the guy and you want him to succeed.

And in advance to someone that will say

"What about his defensive stats?? All people focus on is offense!"

It's given he is not good defensively..we already know that.

I remember thinking Andersen was coming along nicely, starting to hit that jumper more consistently - which is why Worrell's comments struck me as odd. But then I went back and looked at his shooting percentages, and the minutes from the game.

Adelman was a short a man vs. the Lakers, but instead of giving someone a shot (JT), he played Lowry/Landry more and cut Andersen's minutes in half. When both Chuck AND Scola fouled out, he brought in Brian Cook over Andersen. With all the Lakers length, you'd think he'd use Andersen more.

He really hasn't had an opportunity to find any rhythm. He has played spot minutes.

I think he'll play better against the weaker teams..esp the ones from the East.

Sorry about the double post. Forgot to mention that I don't think anyone really expected Frye would be the next Reggie Miller all of a sudden :p

I felt like I was a little harsh on my comment, but I was just frustrated with nearly every mistake he made on the floor, I really want him to suceed at an NBA level, but if Rick has more trust in Cook over Andersen then I just dont see him having an impact

I suspect he'll be OK eventually. His jumpers are cold now, but it'll be back. At least Adelman seems to have some faith in him. Otherwise, those 9-10 mpg he plays can easily go to, say, Pops instead.

He may not be as good as Scola, but that don't mean he's not useful.

LOL -- you were still dead wrong about stating emphatically that he wouldn't contribute positively at any point this season.

I also remember you saying that we would be way under 500 by the time Mcgrady returns. Are you still sticking to your guns about the Rockets sucking this season ??
