The "need to feed family" quip occurred near the end of his Minni stint, which has nothing to do with his days in JVG's Knicks squad.

Sure he was a completely changed man after that one-year suspension. NY fans loved him and were willing to give him a new start. He didn't cause any problem in New York. Or in JVG's words, Spree had "no issues." JVG didn't have to *manage* Spree. Period.

Allegedly, Bonzi is a "changed man" after leaving Memphis, too.

We'll see how if Bonzi is still a "changed man." I'm more concerned about his body than his mental state right now. He thought he could just go out and play, even when out of shape, now he got a dose of reality.

The Knicks team was not free of egos and fragile personalities. Van Gundy got his job because Ewing demanded Don Nelson get fired after the Nelson style failed to suit Ewing's taste. Oakley has had his share of scrapes-- though he is a warrior on the court. Marcus Camby was "El Busto" in Toronto and had to be rebuilt. Sprewell had his yacht injury. It's not like those Knicks teams were choirboys.

I doubt Bonzi is that difficult. He's just fat.

Van Gundy is the coach wants to see players' work ethic and attitude, if you do not work hard, you may not get playing minutes. What Bozi needs to do is hard working in practice.
