It's probably true, but would hate to think it is...There's got to be more to the story...Anywho, I think we could survive w/o Bonzi, but it would be nice if he showed up...

Wow, I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I defended his "persoal reasons" to pgabriel, too.

I was wrong. Pgabriel was right. Bonzi is a flake.

I wouldnt be suprised if this guy is somewhat "depressed" after losing all those millions of dollars by not reupping with Sac. Yeah, I know he's made a ton a money and said he isn't concerned with it anymore, but losing all those millions because of his agent, then having to settle for peanuts has got to have some effect on him psychologically IMO...

Obviously, this would account for him coming into camp overweight. I know this happens from time to time in the NBA, but I think this offseason, with the stress of the negotiations, gave him more time to worry, eat/get flabby and less time to concentrate, get into shape, and heal...

He's basically in "f**k it" mode and a lot of us would be too...

Bonzi will come around and be a nasty off the bench. Just imagine what he'll be thinking as those "little" paychecks start coming in. Now that's a wakeup call he can relate too! I really believe he'll git right with the Lawd! JVG of course!

Lots of people get fired and have to start over, many at less than they were making previously. You don't tank it. You start over. That's what this is for Bonzi.

This whole incident was in preseason when none of the top Mavericks were even going to play. Bonzi screwed up by not going with his teamates. But what's done is done. Bonzi said I'm ready and Van Gundy put him in. He was obviously NOT ready, now he is on the inactive list. He'll get into shape and be back on the court. This story is petty and ridiculous. Van Gundy wouldn't tolerate a knucklehead, and Bonzi got his chance to show he was ready. Van Gundy wins this round as far as I am concerned.

Bonzi will get it together and really enjoy being on this team.

I don't particularly trust Aldridge, but he echoes my own suspicions. Wells probably figured he could take it easy in the begining of the season since he's working for peanuts, and then turn it on in the second half for his contract push. You can see it in his flippant comments to the Chron about preseason. JVG told him it wasn't going to work like that and that if he wants a chance to see the court at all, he'll have to work. And, since the value of Bonzi's next contract is in JVG's hands, he'll have to do it. For now, JVG is trying to not hurt Bonzi's reputation (praising his intelligence and not criticizing him for being out of shape and missing preseason), but he can tear Bonzi to shreds if he doesn't adopt the proper attitude.

You're right... he would have given another undeserving player a 6 year $65 million deal just to develop that "friends-like" relationship.

It really worked with Kelvin Cato, Matt Maloney, Moochie Norris, and Maurice Taylor.

    Excellent post.

If what David Aldridge said is true, then JVG handled the incident perfectly. He gave Bonzi a lesson to learn what team and coach he is playing for and what is the right path he should follow. Meanwhile, JVG didn't leak a bit of that to public, even covered the "suspension" with "personal reason" so Bonzi's reputation didn't get hurt. Later on, after Bonzi kept saying that he was ready (to imply that it was JVG who didn't want to play him), JVG gave him minutes to prove himeself and we all saw the outcome.

I really hope that right now Bonzi got a better idea about the team, the coach and himself and eventually can contribute in a positive way.

Some of the posters on the board are absurd like you said. Its best to just skip the absurd ones and read the ones that acctuly offer some insight. At least thats what I'v been doing for the last year or so...

Anyways pretty bad news for the Rox. Aldridge is no hoopsworld. He's like the national Mark Berman, allways right.

I hope Bonzi gets his **** together becuase come playoff time we WILL need him to take the next step.

Bonzi is a flake, but he is our flake and I want to see him play. He may be a nutcase but he is a matchup nightmare. He "can" make the Rockets very difficult to beat. He uses his giant buns to push people all over the court a la Charles Barkley. He was working over Josh Howard the other night during his brief tenure.

Am I the only one that finds Bonzi's response to the Chinese journalists question about the now infamous "thunder thighs" photo hilarious? I don't really think it's very professional to ask Bonzi those questions if you are a journalist. Yeah, it's not the professional thing to do when you blow off your teammates -- but everyone has the right to go out to the club and have a good time. That's simply part of the NBA lifestyle. Honestly, what did the Chinese reporters expect Bonzi to say when they asked that question? "uh, yeah, that's the girl i took home and ****ed?"

On the positive side, it's looking like the Rockets will have the MLE to play with next year.
