Oh, I don't know if some of you other fans remember a incident last season or the season before but it involved a play where Tmac was on a fast break and Bonzi fouled him real hard. I never saw Tmac that visibly pissed off and he even raised his fist and bit his tongue as if to say, " Man, I want to knock you the F*&K out!!!!"

Am I just dreaming about this incident? Does anyone else remember? Was it even Bonzi?

For some reason, this incident is what I've associated Bonzi with ever since.

Bonzi still has plenty of time to earn his new contract. And he's under paid for his current contract. And the Rockets are doing fine at the meantime.

    Strike! Wow!

I'm dissappointed in his behavior, but all anyone is expecting Bonzi to do, his camp included, is for him to explode during playoffs.

If he does that, his contract issues are over.

I don't really keep up with the NBA soap operas, so I have only heard tidbits about Bonzi. Pretty funny though... he has proved his reputation was well earned in no less than 2 weeks. Wonder how long it will be until we start reading the "cancer" articles.

Well, personally I am in consent of what JVG is doing.

Panzi got an attitude problem. He gave up preseasons; he is not in top competitive shape and form; he's partying.

And from a Chinese article on sina.com, when reporters asked him who those girls are that got pictures taken sitting on his thighs, he rebuked: "They are my sisters. Can my sisters not sit on my thigh ?"

Just bench him....and let him train himself back into form and shape if he ever wants to play again.

OK, but he's done that ONCE in his career, and it was during a contract year. One year he was kicked of the Grizzlies team during the playoffs for being a flakosauros.

I think some of us have unrealistic expectations of what Bonzi can do for us. He can be a key player no doubt, but his baggage is very heavy. IMO, it's a mistake to assume the best case scenario (whatever you think it is) will happen. Even if Aldridge is wrong, Bonzi's reporting to camp so fat is a sign he will NOT be on his "best behavior" this season. He's obviously aware nobody going to give him a full 5yr MLE next season.

Like I said, hopefully he gets his act together and helps us. Bonzi can be very effective when he sets his mind to it. But the fact his mind is needed presents a problem.

I hope you are being sarcastic. Then again, you are the one who had that "FIRE GUNDY!" thread two years ago.

I don't think it's asking much of him to show up to support his team. It also would help him acclimate and pick up the system just by seeing what is expected of him.

For a guy trying to play for a big contract next summer, I expected much more from him, even knowing that he's been a flake.

It shows clearly JVG is incapable of handling those kind of players if this is true.

It seems happen every season for Rockets since JVG come here.

So please stop wasting money and time signing those guys, CD/Morey.

This doesn't surprise me, really. I think we kinda expected some sort of anything like this to occur from Bonzi.

And, yes, DA is quite credible. He's HIGHLY-regarded amongst his peers and has always been credible, whether with ESPN or TNT.

I wonder what a package of him and Juwan might bring...although I would HATE to at least not put him in the lineup a few times and see what he can do for us.

I am not a JVG hater by any means.. I actually defended the guy several times in the frequent "JVG sucks" and "Fire gundy" threads..

but I seriously believe that JVG f'*ed up this time.. I mean, what kind of attitude is that ??? the guy is new, u got him for way less that he's worth, why the heck would u treat him like a freakin middle school kid ?? when the guy says he's injured, he's injured.. just STFU and dont go telling him "oh, why dont u stay at home and consider staying there permenantly" ... JVG totally screwed up .. that's a very bad action to take and it proves that he is r****ded and his relationship with the players is like a "boss-employee" kind of relationship..

man, if Rudy-T was in his place he would've never done that.. he was so friendly and amiable with the players and he developed a friends-like relationship with his players..

If Bonzi doesn't work out in the regular season, why would he work out in the playoffs.

Why does everyone think it's better for a coach to be soft toward unmotivated players? Bonzi himself said that Van Gundy and the team explained their expectation to him before his signing. He needed to live up to these or else he's hurting the team. Bonzi is NOT a good enough player to go through the season halfassed and still help the team. He was good in SAC ONLY because he lost 30 lbs from his Memphis days. His play in Memphis, while heavy, was medicocre and now he apparenly weighs even more than he did in Memphis. Somebody needs to lay down the law. Bonzi needs to get in shape, be a good teammate, or else he's not helping the team.

As for "OMG VAN GUNDY CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS TYPE OF PLAYERS!".... Hello? Latrell Sprewell?

RocketsMac, if anything, Rudy T would have made the situation worse with his lackaidaisical discipline. I guarantee you, if Rudy was on the coaching seat now with Bonzi the way he isn, only 2 things can happen: Bonzi getting injured playing out of shape sometime in late-December, or we start seeing reports of locker room dissent on the Rockets.

JVG is fully right with this one. Bonzi's not a star, he's just a very good player who can put up numbers. That doesn't give him the right to act like he holds leverage over anyone even if he did take a huge paycut to come onto this team.

If you can't even do something as simple as showing up to support your new teammates, much less showing up physically ready for the season, then get the eff out of the league. Go take a 9-5 job or play overseas in the EuroLeague or CBA or something. Since he's so unappreciative of his being able to play in the best league in the world, cut him. it's 2 million dollars, I'm sure Les Alexander can afford it to teach the man a lesson.

If he didn't have the god-given ability to play top-level basketball, he'd have been fired and jobless long ago in any other industry.

Bonzi needs to grow up and get some humbling done.
