as long as rockets fans don't boo howard after he decides to bolt next season it will be okay. Unfortunately I think that most fans would boo him still even though he literally said that he won't stay here after next year.

We don't need Kennedy to realize that... He will definitely stay longer if paired with a second star and a borderline allstar

The third one..... in the mold of Ginobili, Harden, Curry, Smith, Millsap

What is this obsession with Pau? He doesnt want to be here and would end up being Lamar Odom on the Mavs. Even a Howard rental doesnt make much sense unless we had a real shot at the championship with him. Defensive big is not the only piece we need. Try to trade up in the draft or trade for DHo and then use him to net a good young big.

I think picking up Noah would be a better move than Howard.

You still take the chance. If he bolts, so what? It's not setting us back multiple years at all. Especially since the draft picks are from this year. We're stuck in a rut, and we don't have the luxury of waiting and waiting. Fan attendance was more pathetic than usual. This franchise will jump on any opportunity to land a no afire superstar. That includes indecisive, pouty ones like Dwight Howard. His indecisiveness actually bodes well for Houston. Howard seems like he takes others' opinions into heavy consideration. Maybe he wakes up. If not, oh well. At least we tried. It's not like this current team is one to contend with.

Isn't Josh Smith a UFA now?

Also him and Josh Smith I believe are pretty good friends.

Doesn't matter. Get him now if you can, then gouge the Nets next year at the trade deadline if Dwight isn't convinced by then.

lol Dream also I swear in a video said Dwight out of all the players he's helped in the offseason didn't improve or use the moves he taught him as well as the other players.

Dwights feelings were hurt I'm sure :p

Why would the Lakers facilitate Gasol if they knew Howard is coming?

They have revealed their hand. These empty threats are only further proof that while Howard currently prefers elsewhere, he will be forced to stay here if we refuse to let him go. The rumors before was smoke, but David Aldridge coming out with this is the fire, reeking of desperation from Howard's camp. Also, damn am I relieved that this means we are not seriously interested in Drummond.

And just how do you propose they "gouge" the Nets? Especially if everyone (and that includes the Nets) will know that Howard won't be signing a contract extension with Houston so why would the Nets trade for Howard when all they will have to do is sit back and sign him after he becomes an UFA?

I'd hesitate if T. Robinson was available though, I really like his game and I think he'll be very successful in the NBA.
