David Aldridge: Source says not a chance Dwight stays in Houston

I'm getting really excited, but I'm trying not to. It's going to be a huge letdown if we don't make a big splash on draft night after all this.

 

I don't believe Dwight will walk - or he would have done it already.

ESPN: Chad ford says that we probably won't have any of our picks on draft night. We are trying to move up to get 2 top 10 picks. Ford says it may be the best offer anyone can give for Howard. Also, if we move kmart in Orlando deal, we would have enough space for Dwill.

 

It's Dan Fegan (Howard's agent) talking. He wants to Market D-Will and Howard together in Brooklyn.

 

That's fine if he does, but he is still working for his client fwiw. I dunno...I just think all of this talk is posturing and that things would change after a deal is done.

I don't blame him but when push comes to shove and Howard sees how Morey and the Organization is 110% committed to getting a championship while having to tools to sign D-Will; I think Howard realizes it's not as bad as he thought. He seems like a nice guy. Immature but nice.

 

Since we are rumored to acquire DH's ex(friend) Smith, Dwill doesn't want to be isolated and he changed his mind immediately. Now that he's open to be joining forces in Houston, DH'd be more likely to OK the deal.

If that's the case I'd be willing to take a shot at the trade... Big 3 of DWill, Dwight, and Josh Smith would be amazing!

Conspiracy theory -
I can't get completely past the idea that all this "I won't sign in Houston", our "relentless pursuit" , the opt in, and ALL the drama/indecision on Pink Elephant's part .... is all a charade and that it's a foregone conclusion that Dwight is headed here. It's just that it needed to happen with plausible deniability against tampering charges.

 

Lets say DM trades for Howard. What assets will he use to trade for D Williams? I am assuming Williams would want to do S&T so he can get that extra year.

wouldnt have to give much...future draft pick and a trade exception...kinda like what Toronto got for bosh.

I'm pretty sure you don't get the extra year if you do a sign and trade under the new CBA.
