Well, let me pose this question: If you take T-Mac off the Rockets, and Dirk off the Mavs; WHICH team would you say is better than the other?

I think it is CLEAR that Dallas is much more talented than the Rockets are.

Dallas has: Finely, Stackhouse, Van Horn, Terry, Dampier, Howard (that lineup alone can beat some teams currently in the playoffs)

Houston has: Yao (only star-caliber player on the team), then....Who is our 3rd option? DW? JB? MJ? Sura? Nah!

So while Dallas has a 3rd, 4th, and may be even a 5th option for scoring, guys who could score 20 points on any given night if called upon to do so, we don't.

So you get my point, which is that Dallas is much deeper, more talented than we are.

THAT is why they are the clear-cut favorites in this series, that is probably why they are acting a bit overconfident right now. Their two top players (Dirk, Finely) have a lot more playoff experience (and some recent playoff success) over our two best players (T-Mac, Yao).

Really, this series will ENTIRELY come down to our role players, especially in areas of defense and outside shooting. That will be the determining factor in this series.

So if JB, DW, MJ, Sura, and Deke somehow outplay Terry, Howard, V.Horn, Stackhouse, and the rest, then we will definitely win.

So it comes down to our role players, IMHO.

Tim Colishaw from around the horn stated that he won't be surprised to see the Mavs in the finals based on the way they've been playing as of late. However he did mention that it would be tough to get past the first round vs. the red hot rockets.

I guess you haven't heard. JVG's got the Dirk situation under control. Ewing's gonna pump Ryan Bowen full of amphetamines and we're going to play him on Dirk for all 48 minutes. He'll also run laps during timeouts and perform in the halftime show too. It'll be like Dennis Rodman meets the Roadrunner.
