Well, if the Rockets have to give up Brooks, then they must work the deal so that they give us Anthony Johnson as well. The Rockets can't go without a backup PG again.

Excellent post, I didn't realize that we couldn't do a SnT with him at this point in the season...

Mike. James. You people act like AB plays 30 minutes a night for us. He's used in the 2nd quarter and doesn't come back in. Understand that - 10 minutes a game. Mike/Luther can fill the void. AB isn't a deal breaker.

Word. Do the trade now if AB is their only concern.

Please say no to this deal. Artest is a cancer to team chemistry. I like what Brooks brings to our team. He'll be our future starting PG.

I know....I don't know what the f8kin big deal is in trading Brooks....TMac and Yao aren't getting younger and if we get Artest we have a great shot this year! James can be serviceble and we can even use TMac at point if we have Artest and Shane in.

We'd be sort of slow, but we'd have a lot of size...

    PG T-Mac 6'8
    SG Battier 6'8
    SF Artest 6'8 (?)
    PF Scola 6'10
    C Yao 7'6

Ric Buhcer on coast to coast just said that the nuggets are the only team or the only place that artest may go to.

And you'd have rafer as the only pg on the team cause Mike James is not a pg.

I came up with two trades that satisfy the replacement of our back-up point guard. So here are some possible deals that help in that. Beno Udrih is a small expiring contract. Both work on the Trade Checker.

    1. Ron Artest and Beno Udrih for Aaron Brooks, Chuck Hayes, and Mike James.

    2. Ron Artest and Beno Udrih for Aaron Brooks, Luther Head, and Mike James.

*I would not give up Shane Battier for Ron Artest, esp. considering the CBA rules as explained by poster TY185.

It may be only 10 minutes, but Brooks actually does something on the court. James is not making shots, yet he still takes them. Not only that, he turns the ball over a lot. Head is not a PG. Why do people still think he can take the point? All you have to do is press him a little bit, and you'll end up with a turnover more times than not.

Brooks is a legit scoring weapon. He can shoot AND drive.

Tmac at point is taking away some of his shots.

And again, the Rockets can't sign Artest until the offseason if traded for this year. Why give up a very promising rookie in Brooks just for a couple months?

Artest is on record saying he loves playing for Adelman. Why not just gamble nothing and wait to see if you can sign Artest later.

Forget the fact that Battier gives us better perimeter defense than Artest would, and he's the primary reason that Yao is able to stay on the floor and out of foul trouble as much does now. What if Artest walks after the end of the season?

Besides, am I the only one drooling at the idea of Battier and Artest on the floor together? Battier at the three and Artest at the four. The Rockets would be so good defensively that it wouldn't even be fair.

At that point, any idiot who can bring the ball up would be good enough at point guard. If the other four starters are Yao, Artest, Battier, and McGrady, I'll take John Effin' Lucas at the point.

And the team needs Brooks going forward.

On paper this deal would seem like a no brainer, but I'm just afraid that any move will mess up the chemistry we have going. If it aint broke, don't fix it you know.

We might be fooling ourselves with this streak though, considering the level of competition we have faced. If we struggle in March we may wish we had done something.
