Any chance they'd take Head instead of Brooks in a deal?

No way I would trade Battier - no way.

    I'd give them

    Snyder (exp.)
    Wells (exp.)
    Hayes
    Head

    for Artest

and, if necessary, I'd throw in a first-round draft pick, but only if it was part of the deal that Artest signs a reasonable extension (is that possible, for that to be stipulated in the deal?).

Then somehow go and get Cassell...please Clippers, cut him so that we could pick him up. That would be my dream scenario (of course, I wouldn't mind if, in addition to all of the above, Memphis took Mike James, Steve Francis and a first-rounder for Mike Miller, but that won't happen...).

Definately keep Battier he's part of the Rockets future. Bonzi is more expendable.

I'd rather they tried giving up their 2008 first round pick than Brooks.

If Morey was scouting Ante Tomic projected as a borderline first round pick... Portland will have 8 bigs if they sign Joel Freeland (2006 30th pick) next season. I like the Rockets chances of buying his rights for cash.

Oh really? Even with the chance that Artest would walk after this season?! You would be giving up some very serviceable players and a young PG with lots of upside for a half-year rental then.

I know Artest has said his agent thinks he's worth 14 million. But, he's also said that winning championships is way more important than the money. So, if we talked to him, and were confidant, like with Scola, that he would sign an extension, then I'd be game for us to trade Brooks in the deal. Artest could break the press, just like Brooks does.

Artest would bring toughness we are lacking ... a super Mario ... ;)

We can't fall in love with our players when it comes to our players. That has caused us to lose out on more good trades. Put it this way, during the summer, would you have traded our #26 pick, Bonzi and Snyder for Artest? I bet you would have!

Even if Artest doesn't work out, he would be a better trading chip for us. If we could do it without losing Battier, wow, we'd be one heck of a defensive team, with Battier as our 6th man.

I guess, the biggest risk is chemistry. But, I'm not sure we've got it now anyway. Maybe Artest would fire up TMac and Yao.

    I'd say go get him.

Of course, this just could be another tease from the Maloofs, who yank it back at the last minute to punish Adelman ... :(

    snyder - no value
    francis - no value
hayes - nothing artest cant do better
brooks - only one that would be somewhat difficult to replace

that deal makes us a legit title contender right now.... whether he leaves after this season or not is practically irrelevant. but even if he does, do you really consider hayes or brooks that big of a loss??? c'mon...

Brooks yes, lots of upside. Hayes as an underrated defensive stopper...but I would give him up of course if we got Artest. I agree that Francis and Snyder would have value only as expiring contracts. We have just seen in several trades how much value these actually have to some teams. By the way, if this were to happen, I'd hope we'd sign Francis back on after 30 days to fill out the roster and out of loyalty.

Maybe there is a deal to trim payroll in the summer for this.

    ????

Who knows? Only the next few days will tell.

If Stevie doesnt come back, if Snyder is off the books, and we trim some other salary in a deal, maybe just maybe we could work it out.

i dont think the deal breaker is necessarily giving up aaron but giving him up when there is no real backup PG there for rafer. we maybe in the same situation as we were last year then in the playoffs with rafer playing 40+ minutes. there is where the non-progession/development of mike james has really HURT the team.

i think unless they can somehow can get a servicable backup PG then morey would be willing to ship brooks provided that artest says he would sign an extension.

but who knows if tmac plays backup if we somehow keep battier in it imagine a lineup of:

tmac, ron, battier, scola and yao.

    in the 4th quarter

big athletic and threats on both ends of the floor (well not so much shane but he can space the floor)

If the Rockets believe Brooks can establish himself next season is he worth keeping?
Will he have durability issues like other players of his size?
What are the Rockets odds of landing Ricky Rubio in the 2009 draft?

    No, no and no.

    Please. No.

Trade depth for an unreliable starter? I'd be okay with it, if that certain starter didn't have to be Ron Ron Artest, who swore to kill Bonzi, who is nut-frigging insane and who will be a UFA this off-season.

    If Rockets were 20-32, I'd agree. 32-20 though...no.

Yao and Tracy account for 40 million on the 56 million cap by themselves. The only way to afford Artest is to trade for his bird rights.

That's a bit of a stretch considering we don't even know who is being packaged for Artest.

"I told him if he leaves, then I'm going to kill him. Unless he wants to die, he's got to stay (with the Kings)."

    He was probably joking...

Like others have said, if it's just for a 30 game rental then I would rather have Brooks. But if he can sign an extension or something then I'll holla AB....
