My goodness man. It is a buyer's market if that happens. And we could top it with expirings and picks ourselves. I'd throw them 2 firsts plus Luther and expirings for Artest.

Spurs would then have instead of a Big Three. They would have a Big 4. Sheesh. You add Artest to Duncan,Ginobili, Parker and what don't they have? They would have it all. They got Tiago Splitter coming in. They would have to trade either Oberto or Elson to get him but wow.

This random dude of the web sums it up pretty well:

"No matter the bounty, if it were to happen -- San Antonio would steal some Lakers thunder, at the least. Can you imagine that team replacing a flagging Bruce Bowen with a (contract year) Artest? I just got scared, and my team's nowhere near the playoffs."

Could be true or could be SAC spreading rumors (probably fairly legit ones) to see if they can get something better from another team.

Expirings and picks (from SA, those would be very low picks) don't seem like that much to pay for Ron. I'm guessing they are still angling ffor a Kleiza or Aaron Brooks type young guy in addition to a pick or two.

I have barely been able to keep any faith this season with the depth in the West compounded with the recent trades.

If the Spurs add Artest, I can't possibly see any reason to believe the Rockets have a chance in hell this season.

Artest with the Spurs trumps every single team's trade this season. It cannot be allowed. We have to put a stop to it!!!

Artest on that team simply makes them unstoppable. Nobody is gonna beat them.

but many of these teams that are adding firepower have untenable salary structures for the long run. denver must be demolished due to all the max contracts, the lakers will have to pay bynum so they will lose someone (odom most likely), phx is already maxed out, and SA will likely not be able to resign artest unless he takes a pay cut.

so the question really is: if we stand pat and give it a shot with what we have this year, can we add our missing piece later and take advantage of this inevitability?

Does anybody have legit e-mail addresses to the Rockets front office? We need to let our voices be heard.. I can't stand the Spurs getting another championship.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be awesome if he somehow demolished their team chemistry? Who wouldn't want to see the Spurs implode?

But shucks, if Eva Longoria couldn't do it, I don't see what chance Ronnie has.

I like how most of you people forget that Ronnie and Rick the Ruler were on the same team.

    like Erib and Rakim

like Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince

    like Chuck D and Flav

This may urge the Nuggets to throw in Kleiza just to prevent Spurs from getting Artest

The next couple hours may be crucial for the Rockets' hope to make any noise in the post-season

Now that I think about it, I would give up Brooks if Artest would want to be a Rocket for the long haul.

Think about what the other teams had to give up to get their prize:

    Suns gave up Marion
    Celtics gave up Jefferson
    Mavs gave up Harris
Lakers gave up Kwa...no wait, Critten...mmm, nevermind this one, but...
the Hawks gave up Antho...man, Lorenz...., at least Shelden Williams has potential?

If all the Rockets have to give up is Brooks, and Artest somehow guarantees he'll extend his contract...I'd be willing to do it.

The duo of Artest and Battier alone is something to drool over come playoff time. It's JVG's wet dream come true.

Also, Artest is a legit (seriously this time, guys) 3rd scorer. He can hit the outside shot, but his real work is down low. He is a BEAST.

After the Artest deal, the Rockets should target Lowry to replace Brooks and backup Rafer so that Rafer's production can stay where it is right now.

    Alston/Lowry?
    McGrady/Wells
    Battier/Artest
    Scola/Artest/Landry
    Yao/Scola

You have to keep Scola in the starting lineup. Once he was inserted there, his play and this team has taken off.

Can you imagine the defensive lineup of:

    Alston
    McGrady
    Battier
    Artest
    Yao

Artest to Spurs is bull crap. One thing I know for sure is that Spurs wont pay luxury tax. So, I dont know how they will keep Artest.
