    Give up on what?

    Add some clarity.

Without knowing the specifics it's hard to say it's a "no brainer". Even a "no brainer" comes from the gut. My gut says, NO.

They just talked about this on NBA Radio: Full Court Press

A Houston caller 'Easy' called in and said he's all for Artest, even if they had to give up Brooks. Compares getting Artest to getting Rodman for the Bulls.

Dee Brown agrees that Artest would put the Rockets in the top tier, however doesn't know if Yao and Tmac could 'Control' Artest like how Scotty/Jordan controlled Rodman.

The Houston caller 'Easy' was a pretty knowledgeable fan talked about Xavier McDaniel, the old Rox vs the old Seattle teams .

"Add San Antonio to the list of teams that will try to steal Ron Artest.
I don't see Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie biting, but I'm told that the Spurs will (or maybe have) offer the expiring contracts of Francisco Elson and Brent Barry (combined $8.54 million) for Artest. A draft pick would likely be available, too, but this would seem to be yet another low-ball offer as the Kings see it. But if it did happen and Ron was united with the team he demolished in the playoffs two years ago? Oooweee. The rich would be filthy rich.."

Horrible for a Rockets fan if this does come true

Nevermind, I misread the first time.

Not wanting to give up on AB is certainly part of it.

Other than that, I would love to get Artest but am accepting the reality that it doesn't look like it will happen.

I would give up Battier in a heartbeat as part of a package to get Artest.

    I would love this lineup:

    Brooks
    McGrady
    Artest
    Scola
    Yao

Lakers give up Crittenton for Gasol.... Rookie Pg, who has high value and you guys are whining about giving Brooks ? Hes good but u are getting a proven all star forward. I just hope we have a deal in place where he is for sure locked up to be a Rocket for years.

Why are you arguing with yourself? Especially confusing since both of you is saying exactly the same thing.

If the Spurs land Artest, the Rockets would go from a bad situation to utter despair.

Maybe the best reason to go after Artest is to c### block another Western Conference powerhouse from getting him.

If Aaron Brooks is all that is holding an Artest deal up, I think we could handle Mike James manning the point.

It would be nice to know though what the whole trade might involve. I am guessing we might be looking at Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry as I am sure that Sacramento wants young talent back....

Not as gung ho about that, but Artest would be taking up some time at the PF slot so Landry might not be that valuable as long as Scola and Hayes stay.

This is just speculation it seems though, but if you have a chance to get Artest for Brook, Landry, and expirings, you got to take the risk.

I wonder if Artest has any say whatsoever as to what team he goes to. I guess Bibby really didn't... I believe Artest will be gone though, similar to other FA like Marion, better to get something back before they walk.

Mike James almost has to be a part of the deal with Artest to get the money to work from what I'm seeing...

Never. Give up two really good later picks for one half season from a ball-hog nut job? Landry stays, period, and Brooks ought to as well. Sac is behind the 8-ball here, not us. They'll take whatever the best low-ball offer is that they can get, or they get NOTHING when he walks.

They can have Head and Snyder and whoever else they want among SF, MJ and maybe Novak, and maybe a pick, but I wouldn't even go that far, given Morey's wizardry with the draft so far.

I'm a little worried about the possibility of this trade.

I might cream myself if this goes down.

But that will never happen becasue the Kings really want Brooks and thats the only way they will give us Artest. I understand the love for Brooks. Who knows he may become a great player later down the road, but we are trying to win now. Lets not forget that Tracy is 28 and Yao is 27 so that means they will be in their 30's in a few more years so they might not be as good anymore. If you have a chance to get an all-star type player for a rookie you have to make the deal.
