It all depends if Artest bails on us or not after this year. I'm almost tempted to do this if the only deal breaker is Aaron Brooks. There's a difference between playing rookies and relying on rookies. And the thought of Yao, Artest and T-Mac on the court at the same time is scary. Artest could be our 2008 Mad Max.

Since he is being put up against a psycho w/ mood swings every day about his team and one that has stated that he does not want to be the 3rd scoring option behind Bibby and Kevin Martin.

Sign him to an extension and then trade Brooks. Otherwise forget about it.

This is coming from someone who loves Artests game, just not fond of the psycho walking after this season.

adding artest to our core group would push us into serious championship contention. however, for the long run, if artest doesn't sign an extension this could be a one year thing which may not be worth brooks.

Uh....what are the particulars of the deal?

IF the only real valuable part of the deal is Aaron Brooks, and we don't pull the trigger, then to hell with Morey and Adelman.

If we trade Battier + Brooks, fine. As long as Artest re-signs with us.

If it involves Brooks + expirings + crap, then fine.

If we lost key players and Artest walks, nope.

But man oh man, the possibilities of getting Artest. And woe be to us if the Nugs get him and we stand pat.

He didn't say, just that we are being very reluctant giving up Brooks in any deal.

Depending on what the Rockets give up, Artest "could" give the team instant contender status. I would definitely deal Battier, James, Synder, Novak, or Hayes. Maybe Brooks, but not Landry or Scola. If there is a way to get him without blowing up the team, and the money works, do it. He may be a nut, but he is really, really good. He just about beat the whole Rockets team the other night by himself.

Look guys. Morey wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't attempting to "get in on the action", if for no other reason than to drive up the price for Denver or some other team. We may be offering expirings and two draft picks just to force Denver to have to up the anty with another draft pick. Who knows?

But I can't see us trading either Battier or Brooks in a deal for Artest.

I'd still prefer to get Wally and Delonte from Seattle for a package of expirings, picks, Head, and James.

Like I've said before, brooks and battier shouldn't be a deal breaker. Call sura and get him some free money to make it happen. Then send head to either seattle or portland for west or head. Before u hang up the phone, call pj brown to come back yao up.

I'd rather the Rockets not be held hostage by an erratic hot head for the next half decade. All it takes is one more brawl and Artest is probably banned for life.

if it's something like Mike James + Kirk Snyder + Aaron Brooks for Artest, I'll do it in a heart beat.

Artest can totally hold down Boozer or David West in defense. No doubt Artest will push the Rockets to be a contender if he doesnt blow up.

A more realistic trade is something like this:

Battier + Brooks + Bonzi (expiring contract) for Artest + some scrub they don't want.

It would be much better for us if we can keep Brooks, since the only other backup PG is Mike James, who is out of the rotation.

i just wonder whats in the deal really if we are giving up both brooks and james then yeah its an issue only rafer at PG

i honestly wouldnt want to give up battier also i think he brings a lot more to the table than people give him credit for but it really depends on what we give up. did DA say who the particular players could have been outside of brooks?

a lineup of rafer, tmac, artest, scola and yao is pretty darn crazy though but really only if ron stays in houston.
