We need to get better. Even portland had a 14 game winning streak now look where they are.

All I can say is we are winning now, with this team. I don't have any fondness for Artest, so I'd rather not trade anyone away for him.

I understand his abilities as a player, but we don't need him.

Not sure why people are so high on Brooks, I don't think he is going to be better than a back up PG. I would pull the trigger, as long as we are not giving up Scola/Landry/Rafer/Yao/Tmac/Battier. Everyone else is fair game.

hey if we get him for cheap and all we are throwing away is Brooks thats the main guy in the rotation.... then do it.

U gotta gamble sometimes. Artest in the playoffs is just another CONSISTENT scoring option.

Well, personally, I would take the chance and trade Brooks. You can always get another PG. They are a dime a dozen in the NBA. Big men that can play, now that's hard to get. You realize that if we get Artest that our front line will be Yao/Scola/Landry/Battier and maybe Hayes although I think we'll trade him in this deal. Nobody in the NBA will be deeper than us in the Front court.

Morey can always make an offseason deal for a PG during the summer or we perhaps he can pull out his Wizard's hat and draft another incredible PG.

This for the people who think we should stand pat and not even make a move for the guy..

Imagine playoffs, Imagine game 7. 4th quarter with time running out and the defense is pressing and I mean pressing hard. Were down by 4 with 2 minutes left. What do you do? Give it to Yao or T-mac? Not Yao because he will be doubled team in an instant and isn't quick enough in the low post to get a shot off. Give it to T-mac? Hell frigin no because he can't drive past his man and will settle for a jumpshot which averages below 35% in the playoffs.

You give it up to someone who will instantly get you on the line. Someone that will drive to the basket and will not settle for anything less..

    That's Ron ARTEST!!!!!

You people are just kidding yourself as to who is a great finisher on this team. We really have nobody that is clutch, fearless. Were talking about playoffs here not regular season games... The Rockets have showed time and time again they crumble in the 4th, they are horrible when the team is pressing just from an inbound pass..

We shouldn't be looking for miracle shots or 13+ pts in 30 something seconds. We need a reliable, attack the basket, get out of my mother F#$@! way type of player.

A.I. ... He was untouchable for years. I do think Brooks has the tools to being a consistent producer. He's got rabbit in him. If he can get his shot to at least the level of Luther Head...we would have something pretty good.

Aaron brooks could be good, even great.
But artest under RA is gold. Look at bonzi.

If the trade for Artest is center around AB with fillers like James, synder, i say go for it. Rox could even put Tmac as PG.

Artest is literally have a season, half a man.

We'd have him half a season, and he'd be gone. You really want to do that?

I totally agree. Aaron Brooks is on the level of AI. I mean he's a shoot first point guard, and he's fast.

Yeah, that's where the similarities end. Allen Iverson is 3 inches taller, a tenacious player, and a what, thousand time all star. Aaron Brooks will be a perennial back up point guard.

Bingo. I don't see the infatuation with Aaron Brooks. He plays 7-10 minutes a night. And people don't want to give him up?

I am completely convinced artest is exactly the type of player we need. just saw the portland game and no one could stop him from scoring and roy was shut down the whole game. I know team chemistry is important and until artest proves to be a distraction don't judge him. losing brooks is no big deal we are not like last year when rafer was exposed just look at what our rosters look like heading into the playoffs then last year. get the deal done already morey!

If Petrie thinks Brooks is lottery pick talent then Rockets should re-visit the Gay trade.

Gay (Lottery pick) + Swift (Negative trade value) for Battier

Brooks (Lottery pick value) + James (Negative trade value) + Snyder (Expiring) for Artest

the issue to trading brooks is that when alston is not playing well, all you have left (assuming you even have him left over) is MJ. They are both streaky, somewhat volatile players.

That being said, if brooks is whats holding the deal up, its a no brainer...trade brooks. I would just like them to pull in another point if possible.

Like we've had every year since Sam Cassell left?

The Rockets would be taking an enormous risk by trading any promising players for a headcase like Artest. You've got to think team chemistry is great right now and its showing by the 9 games in a row since Scola has started at PF. The team has finally started to do what they were supposed to do at the start of the season... take the pressure off Yao and T-mac by making plays.

I think it would be a huge mistake to part with Aaron Brooks, I believe he has the makings of a great PG.

Mike James and Kirk Snyder for Artest, it's a fair deal.

    I'm serious.

Put me in this camp. I think it would be a mistake to lose Brooks and/or to pick up Artest.
