Again, I kinda wonder what Sac would want with Battier. He's not young, and his contract isn't up anytime soon.

Once Olajuwon left the Houston Rockets, they couldn't make it back to the championship again. The addition of Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkely helped the Houston Rockets remain a competitive team but they never made it to the Finals again.

I just hope Yao never leaves us! . . Lol

Gotta disagree with you there. Landry seems to have "it" despite that he is SLIGHTLY undersized for a PF. The man knows how to freaking put the ball in the basket. He's uncanny. Plus he rebounds like a beast.

I legitmately think Landry is 3-4 years away from being solid NBA player. He's a project ...but I think he's worth it. He's not all-star material but I guarentee you that Landry will ALWAYS get signed by somebody. Book that.

I gotta 110% agree with you there. We need somebody with some fire and that will the ball in the basket. Both TMac and Yao seem to flair out in the 4th Q. Artest is a perfect personality for this team ...if he doesn't go completely AWOL On this team, he's worth the risk.

I would do this deal if we can get Beno Udrih to back up Rafer. Brooks is good and developing. It hurts to trade him away. But getting Artest is too good to pass up and Udrih is servicable. However, the Kings have nobody at PG now that they have traded Bibby away and it is doubtful that they will part with Udrih. I think that if we hit the playoffs with only Rafer Alston at PG then we still have the same problem as last year. Being totally exposed at the position.

Yeah Landry is an undersized power forward like Charles Barkley was an undersized power forward. Are you mad!!! Landry is a legit 6'9" and he plays like his last meal is at stake. He rebounds like crazy and dives after loose balls. His main shot is the slam dunk! You're nuts if you want to trade Landry away.

the kings have 15 players on their roster. trading brooks, head, james for ron and beno would mean that they would have to cut someone.

most likely to be cut would be lue or johnson. they are both older guys on ending contracts.

we could work out a deal where they cut the PG of our choice and we send them cash to cover the remainder of the PG's contract.

There is NO WAY Battier can guard point guards. I don't know where you got the "Shane already guards PGs to shut them down" from, but there is no chance in hell Battier can catch up with the fleetfooted PGs in the league. You think Shane can contain CPIII, Nash, Parker, Williams? I respect him greatly as a defender, but athleticism is not one of his exceptional attributes. He's a great defender because of his bball IQ, discipline and committment to defense, experience, and the willingness to sacrifice his body, not because he can run faster or jump higher than the other players. Now, with specially designed half-court team defense, I can see him trying to contain Williams, Baron Davis or Jason Kidd, but that's it. Ultimately, the answer to defending these top-tier PGs in the West is team defense, which means help from bigs to contain the paint, communication on the court and mixing in zone once in a while.

I think from our side the trade has to involve Hayes/James/Brooks. Hayes would be useless to us if Artest comes here.

This could be the deal that lands Artest but what about Synder? I am sure Morey will get him a gig somewhere, maybe for a guard?

Can't wait for our game against the Heat.

    Will we have Artest.....Andre Miller.......Mike Miller......Sam Cassell?

    Or will we stay put?

If we give up Brooks we will need a new PG. Doubt that they will give up Udrih. Now perhaps a three way trade with another team might work out if they have a good PG they are willing to part with.

This is why Brooks is the sticking point. We can't afford to give up Brooks without getting a premium PG back in return.

They dont want James because he dont fit in with their future plans and also he is a bad contract. Sacramento is not going to take on a bad contract unless they can swap bad contracts for a position in need.
They need youth+picks+expirings to build with.

The best option to land Artest is to trade Brooks+Wells+Snyder+Head.

I dont want to trade Battier+Scola+Landry

I will trade James but they dont want him.
I will trade Hayes too but read above, because they are set at the PF spot.

    They do want Brooks.
    Wells and Snyder are expiring.
Head is a young gun and cheap.

Sacramento is at the roster limit so they would need to trim it down to 12 before the trade and i will keep a close eye on them in the next 2 days.

Geez, I know Mike James sux ballz, but certainly he and/or Luther can man the backup PG spot, given the fact that most of the offense runs through TMac anyway?

He's a great team guy. He will take defensive pressure off Kevin Martin and somewhat replace Ron Artest (somewhat). He won't go crazy during games and *possibly* lose games by interacting with fans, etc. etc.

They could use him as trade bait? I don't know. I just don't think we could get Ron Artest JUST for exp. contracts and trade bait... do you? Even with Sacramento's rebuilding stage, an experienced veteran who's a good locker room guy could help.

It's easy to judge Shane harshly because he's a Rocket and we expect so much of him, but he really is a great defensive player. Smart. He hustles. I'm sure no team would grieve to pick him up, especially for a player they are shopping.

Shane Battier at his best is not as good (probably not even close) to Ron Artest at his best, but Shane Battier has traits he can bring every game, night in and night out. Shane Battier is for the most part consistent, Ron Artest is very streaky.
