Can't do it. Landry and Scola are the biggest reasons for the Rockets current win streak. But if Artest signed a 5 year contract, then maybe it would be different.

I suddenly have flashbacks of Horry and Cassell for Barkley.

Give up youth for a star = result can still be no ring, and gradual downward spiral

Be greedy, think of ways to get Artest without giving our young guys.

Those are pretty similar to my thoughts.

Though I'm not too sure about giving up Battier... he's still a pretty good shooter from 3, and brings all the intangibles, etc. etc. Plus, if I'm the Kings, I don't see how he fits into my long-term plans. Battier is a veteran guy you want to help you contend. He's getting older, and his contract runs for awhile longer. That's not the guy you want on a rebuilding team. Bonzi and Snyder's expiring deals would seem to make more sense.

If we can find a way to get him to re-sign with us, this trade would be a no-brainer.

I'm a big fan of Brooks, but Ron Artest is on a whole different level. Our window of opportunity to win is within the next 2 to 3 years.

This is exactly what I thought when I heard Aldridge say it. Morey is trying to drive up the price for any other Western team trying to get Artest for nothing.....these are our direct competitors. We can't let them continue to get better for peanuts.

the west is wide open already but getting artest would squarely put us up there with absolutely anyone. i wouldn't trade battier unless artest was locked up in a long-term deal but if the only major piece is aaron brooks that's definitely not a deal breaker, and i'm a big brooks fan.

If only there was some way to keep Battier.

Bonzi won't go, plus he's a nice part of the team. The Kings are obviously interested in either (a) young talent or (b) salary dumpage.

I don't know if we could trade all our exp. contracts plus either Brooks/Novak/Head etc. to get Artest, but I doubt it.

Having Battier AND Artest defensively is a monster. T-Mac and Yao will have so much help offensively and defensively plus the mental (instability) toughness that Ron Artest brings.

At this point, I'd rather get a PG though.

I doubt this will happen. It sounds like a silly rumor.

However, I'd give up Brooks in a minute for Artest. We can trade for another backup PG. Artest is playing like Tmac used to (plus he may be the best individual defender in the game). Also, Artest is having one of his greatest seasons statistically. Don't trade Batty if you can avoid it. We have no idea who they want in the deal except for AB. I'd trade any of the obvious players including AB, Hayes, or Head. I wouldn't trade Scola or Landry. I don't want to trade Batty but might consider it...

If Artests promises to resign, you give Sac about anything they want within reason. He'd automatically be our 3rd or maybe even 2nd best player.

Brooks is NOT and never will be a starter in this league. He might be a super 6th man ...but he ain't no starter ...and definately not an all-star.

Landry and Scola both have the potential to be near all-star caliber players in their careers ...wouldnt want to trade either of them.

We won't have a back-up point guard in that case. A move like this would necessitate another one by Morey to pick up another point. I just hate that Artest in not only a head case, but also is a head case who will probably bolt in a few months and could be a bad fit with the roster, anyway.

    Brandon Roy vs. Artest

    Roy: 5-18 11pts.

    Nuff said

Perfect piece to add to our stingy defense.

I'd give up Brooks and Landry without a second thought.....

Landry is an undersized PF, please get over him, he's decent off the bench for limited minutes, you guys had the same squeeze on Hayes about a year ago, I said the same ***** about him...I told all y'all that Hayes will eventually be on the bench with Adelman on board, anyway this isn't about him. Landry is never going to be a starting PF in this league, you can book that. Brooks on the other hand has some potential, but that's all it is, we're going to have to wait 2-3 years for him to develop. Do we have that time? I think not, unusually big guys have shorter careers, Yao's going to be done in about 4-5 years, so we are in a win NOW situation. Plus T-Back might retire......

Anyways point is Artest is EXACTLY what we need, I don't really think we need a PG, Alston is sufficient. I wish this trade goes down........this WILL bring a title to Houston THIS YEAR, I'm serious. Artest is everything T-Mac lacks....it's perfect.
