I think we are over value our own players too much, other than Tmac and Yao from our current roster, everyone else are not even in the same class as far as talent or impact on the game if you compare to Artest.

Artest will give what the Rockets lacking the most, a legit third option that can create and score on his own. He can go off for 30 in any game, play
great defense, and bring the heart and fire (and some craziness :))that the Rockets missing right now. It'll be like mad max II.

Would a package of MJ, Brooks and Synder be enough to get Artest? If it is then do the trade.

    agreed 100%

i mean, it would suck if we had to lose scola, landry, or brooks, but just look how stacked the talent is for the best teams in this league. if we can do the deal, we have to do it, period.

Remember the upcoming 2008 draft is very rich in some excellent point guards.

I am mixed on Artest, but I will say one thing - if we pulled it off and kept Batier some how, we would be one scary team on the defnesive end. Not exactly sure how you'd balance time between Batier, Artest and Mac, but it is intriguing. I still think either of the Millers are more interesting.

Yea. Not only would they trade us the best player on their roster for our backup point guard and expiring contract, but they will also throw in their unprotected lottery pick. Brilliant.

My only problem with adding Brooks is that we will have no depth at PG once again and get owned in the playoffs when Rafer has to play 42 minutes/game. If we get rid of Brooks we have to make another trade to replenish the lost depth

If MJ is involved then go ahead.

I would include Brooks and even Landry if I had to.

Mike James and Ron Artest can play backup pg. Of course Ron better sign an extension with us in the off season.

    Artest can play 2/3/4.

    Rafer, McGrady, Battier, Artest, Yao

    McGrady, Artest, Battier, Scola, Yao

    Rafer, McGrady, Artest, Scola, Yao

no way since Artest is a free agent after this season

his agent thinks he is worth 15 m per yr. why would anyone want to throw away our future?

I love Artest's skill set, and not just that but he has the ability to impose his will on a game.
That said...what does he have to do to show you how unreliable and unstable he is? Is this his 1st season in the last 4 years without some drama or meltdown?

It makes for a great video game line up, but you do NOT want this man on your team if you value chemistry.

He does not want to be a 3rd or 4th option and has shown a pattern of impulsive behavior and poor decision making. He'll tell you as much himself. Remember, this is a guy who wanted out of Indiana so he could run his own show. This is after they stuck by him throughout the whole brawl fiasco.
Even on the off chance he buys into the team, there's no guarantee he can keep himself out of jail. This is not hyperbole. He's racked up a domestic violence charge and an animal cruelty(?) case in the short time he's been in Sac. Artest will set fire to this team and walk away as it burns.

Plus...we're on a roll now. Others have made some major moves but we're developing chemistry and momentum. This could be our time.

Sorry, like others have alluded to already, Landry should be untouchable! He has shown to much promise and his work ethic is great. And considering how Yao's work ethic is going to make Landry want to work just as hard, then I believe he will be a good to great player in 2 years or so! The future is bright in Houston!

Our chemistry is pretty good right now, I'd do it but only if we don't give up Battier. That one is an absolute must at this point, given our win streak. Bonzi is the 6th man whose spot Artest would take (or swap places with Battier for, with Battier going to Bonzi's playing time) so I could part with him.

Brooks Shmooks. Sacramento obvioulsy is valuing him over what most other teams in the league currently have, and I agree wholeheartedly that we can get a better PG in next year's draft. Make it happen Morey!

A rookie for a bonafide all star? I love Landry, but even if he realizes his maximum potential he wont reach Artest's level.

Of course this all depends on some kind of underhand deal between us and Artest where he signs a multi year deal with us.
