Ah man...Carter with a badass solo on "Hello Again"!!!! Come on September 5th!! My first DMB show as a married man!!!!
I know no one cares, but man one of the things I absolutely love about these guys is how they can take songs they play every tour, that everyone knows, and change them up just enough to where you think you're listening to a familiar, yet brand new song. Slowing it down in the middle to Too Much, a more symphonic background in The Stone. This new CD is going to be great if the samplings tonight are any indication!! I'm so freakin' pumped.
I listened to it on VH1.com a few times and I give it a 3 out of 5. IT's solid, but there's some not very good stuff on there. At least it's heading the right direction again. Should be interesting. At least it's tons better than Weezer's new album.
Well i headed up to best buy and picked up a copy. It's currently only $9.99, can't beat that deal. I finally got to really test the songs with the only part of my car thats worth something, my 700 dollars worth of audio equipment. There seems to be a lot more bass in this album, probably due to the producer they chose. So far i'm really liking it. American Baby Everybody Wake Up Hello Again Hunger for the Great Light These are my favorites so far. On a related note, best buy has all Dave Matthews Band studio albums on sale for $9.99. Technically i've only purchased "Crash" but this was a deal i couldn't pass up, 45 bucks later i had them all.
Well, this IS the same band that encourages the recording and distribution of their concerts, so if there was a band that didn't have a problem with illegal downloading of their albums, I figure it would be DMB...
They must have some problem with it because the new album contains the same blocker as Velvet Revolvers album. You can only listen to it using their media player. If you try to record the tracks to the computer they come out skipping all over the place.
I just bought the CD durring lunch today then ripped it and burned a copy for the car and they work just fine ..
EDIT: I figured out the problem. I did a system restore to remove the crap the cd installed my computer. Then held down the shift button when inserting the cd into the drive to keep the autorun off. Seems to be working fine now. Back to the real topic. This cd is starting to grow on me. Wasn't sure what to make of it when i heard the leak but a very solid effort.
Louisiana Bayou is baaaad. That's the only song I missed from the webcast last night and that was a mistake! I just realized I'm sitting here jammin' a bit at my computer. That song is going to be the highlight of shows one of these days. Along the lines of #41, Two Step, Lie in Our Graves, etc. I'm really digging this album.
How do u do a system restore? I got the cd and I want to rip it w/ my windows media player so I can get the album art and all that stuff. It won't let me b/c it is skipping. Can anyone help out? Thanks in advance.
Accessories, System Tools, System Restoration... just pick a date on the calendar prior to you installing the dmb cd. Once your finished with that just insert the cd into the drive and hold shift down and it'll bypass the autorun and play perfectly.
This album really points out that Dave's voice is changing big time. Listen to an earlier one and it's night and day. In a few years, he might sound like Tom Waits. This album is growing on me. Still not UTTAD or Crash, but at least it's heading back in that direction.
Thanks JMP, I have no doubt that it worked for u, but it's still not working on windows media player. I'm keeping the program on the dave disk from running, but it's still not giving me the option to play or rip cd when I put it in. Do you have a player other than WMP that u r using?
Well as expected "Stand Up" debuted at #1 on the billboard with 484,907 copies sold. It did slightly better than their previous effort. "Busted Stuff" debuted with 469,000 sold and went on to sell a total of 1,476,000 copies. Should be interesting to watch how well "Stand Up" does.
Kinda slow to buy this album but picked it up over the weekend. First of all, what is up with all the drum machines? It sounds really over-produced....... not raw, and not very energetic. Second, why lead off the album with a song like Dream Girl? Not really a song that pulls you in..... Third, too much bass, not enough guitars and soloing. Songs that begin and end suddenly..... Lyrics are a little weak for Dave..... Too much repitition.... Not enough storytelling. I like to try and decipher what is going on inside of Dave's brain. Ive got to re-listen 1,000 times, but this is my initial reaction.
Ok after having this CD for a few weeks now I can say I dont like it... DMB hasnt been the same for quite awhile now...
I absolutely love this CD. Everybody Wake Up (Our Finest Hour Arrives) and Out of My Hands couldn't describe my own feelings more perfectly. This is the first CD of their's where there's one song I geniunely dislike. That's not to say I think this is their best work, but it's still great, IMO.
Nope...I'll check them out. I see they're opening for Mofro on the 25th of June. I may have to make that show.
