Yeah, I have speculated all along that a number of those guys could possibly be assistants depending on who we get as coach.
Hoping this is tongue in cheek, because if true... in Morey I Have NO Trust. Finch led to the departure of Adelman, and if his continued employment is what is causing problems with incoming head coaches... well, I don't even want to think about it...
They don't need Chris Finch to roll the ball out to James Harden. Enough of trying to force assistants onto coaches. They passed on him when they fired McHale & promoted Bickerstaff; Probably gonna pass on him again for HC; but they're gonna demand he be on the new coach's staff again.
The front office having a say concerning the assistant coaching staff is very common. Having said that, I haven't seen anything special from Finch unless he was not allowed to run his offense under Bickerstaff and McHale. At this point they should just really clean house. I don't think any of the assistants on the staff were respected; even if it is just guilt by association.
Woj (on the Memphis search/situation) Would Vogel take this job? Unclear. He was devastated. He loved coaching & living in Indiana. He took the weekend to decompress and be with family. Today, he was with his agent evaluating jobs. Memphis is anxious to talk but Wallace knows him from Boston. On the surface, no question he'd be a fit. JVG would appeal to them. He'll wait to see if Houston is a fit. They're in the pool of candidates other teams are interviewing. Something that happens in a week, 2 weeks, a month? Vogel, you'll be competing with other teams. Vogel could happen quicker. He's the guy with a proven track record. Best job Vogel did was last year winning 38 games with no Paul George. Vogel is head and shoulders above the guys out there. Short of that, it extends awhile. + or -, impact on Conley? Would you consult him on the next coach? This is the ultimate team guy. He has an expectation of seeing what this will be. Keep Gasol & Conley in the loop. In the end, find the best coach and know that when you have high character guys, they'll buy in. They aren't high maintenance stars.
Agreed. That is absurd is true and would make me question everyone in the organization from the top down.
Well he didn’t really do much with Kings and Grizzlies that really stood out, though it’s the full staff of course. Look at MDA without Bzdelik, utterly lost.
