So the way to get Lin to be more consistent is to give him inconsistent minutes? I have asked this on multiple threads, what does Lin need to do in his 25 mins during he first three quarters to earn the nod for the fourth?
Kinda surprised clutch didn't laugh off the cassell smith comparison but then took a closer look at the numbers and realized kenny really didnt play as well as I thought. Man old age makes everything from the younger days look good. I woulda ripped into the small lineup like no tomorrow but that's just me . Beverlys the far better fit for mchale so once again, please trade him and cut our losses already.
Before Morey trades Lin he's asking himself if McHale will be the first to go. McHale is a short-timer, temp solution anyway, so maybe Lin does better under Finch who is more offensive minded. Who the hell knows, though

If he said Lin is being outplayed by a first year NBA backup PG, right or wrong, I think us Lin fans will be riled up. I just need relevant stats instead of mumbo jumbo eye test on how active Beverly is on defense. And if it is true that Beverly is in fact outlaying Lin, then start him and let Lin come off the bench.
Well one other thing I agree with clutch is hat bev has definitely outplayed jeremy in the fourth quarter over the span of the last 3 games

I was illustrating how well Beverley is playing to show why I don't think Aaron is going to play right away. I did not say Beverley is a better player than Jeremy Lin. This per 36 mins is just not a fair comparison because Beverly only played 330mins, he plays when rested and in bursts while Lin plays in longer stretches, not to mention, he does not have to make plays and create shots for his teammates resulting in fewer TOs. That said, Beverly's numbers are still very good.
What do you consider to be relevant defensive stats? The problem is there really aren't many good ones publicly available. One defensive metric based on boxscore stats is defensive adjusted statistical +/-. Its probably the best public one available that isn't adjusted +/-. Beverley is the best on the team by that metric. Then there's DRTG, and Beverley is second to Asik amongst Rockets who've played a significant number of minutes. There's the DSPR stat at nbawowy.com. Beverley is best on the team among players playing significant minutes. Other stats like defensive adjusted +/- would be cool to look at. But its hard to judge a player who's played relatively few minutes with that. Synergy is another popular source for people, and Lin fairs better overall by those stats. I would argue that Synergy's value comes from the video more than overall PPP that it gives you. Its just not reliable for capturing overall contribution on the defensive end.
that's the debate i am looking for. it's easy for you to figure out i do like lin alot. it means nothing when concerning what rox future is. i think lins' defense is underrated. if his defense is not better than beverley, at least they are same. in your face defense is same as stay in front of your man when the result is same, no scoring. regarding beverley's block, i remember lin made similar play on pf at least once in this season. i don't believe you think i make up. i just too lazy and there are so many games. i am getting old and my memory is getting worse but i clearly remember once he blocked shot from a pf. regarding TO, if you paid attention on what had happened since 5+ mins left of 4th qt ( i got back from a soccer game and caught the last 5+ min), beverley pretty much dumped the ball to harden or others after bringing up the ball. it is very conservative. if lin played this way, i doubt he would end up with alot TOs. everyone knows lin's style. his style leading TO doesn't suprised me at all. of coz, if mchale views beverley as same as you, he should start beverley to make his rotation more stable. benching your starters not once not twice... got me confused. before he used TD now with beverley. i am shaking my head.
true. But those stats referenced(bev's per and lin's per) remind me of the time when DD compared budinger's stats to kobe's stats, which were similar in their rook campaign, to suggest that budinger was headed to greatness like kobe. Stats can always be skewed to make or contradict an argument.
