I can definitely see Lin being taken at that spot. Unfortunately, 2nd round PGs don't get the same chance to prove themselves. Lin's handled it well. I can also understand a particular demographic having a collective chip on their shoulder when it comes to Lin.

I also don't disagree that folks of all stripes face shades of racism at different stages of their lives, but Lin won't let his race define him. Plus, today's NBA is less about playing "who you like" and more about playing "who will get a win". The Lin/PBev talk aside, if the Rockets don't win, they don't maximize their potential income. This typically unites all parties (ownership, management, coaching staff, players).

Yes the LOF's can be a bit of a bunch of saber rattlers, but some of the garbage I see posted about Douglas and then Beverly is just outrageous.

    Im baffled by it.s

Will all due respect. PER 36 just does not work out that way. Per 36 can be seriously flawed.

Case in point...Kwame Browns first season per 36 is. Almost 12 ppg, 9 Rebounds per game, over one block and 2 assists.

Secondly. Beverly did exactly what in the first place to warrant minutes in the 4th over your starter in the first place? I mean whats good for the goose is good for the gander right? Tonight James Harden shot an atrocious 3-17. Harden on many nights has had shooting nights like this. He had a run in January that was just some of the worst shooting nights Ive seen in a week span. Do we think he should of had some of his 42 minutes cut also? Harden is 3rd in the league in turnovers, but McHale seems cool to over exaggerate Lin's turnover numbers to some ludicrous pulled up phony number of 9. Yet you have the third highest turnover machine in the NBA on your team. How does this make any sense? Also, McHale made it seem as though Lin and his reckless style leads to too many turnovers per game. A quick look and there are 11 PG's who average more turnovers per game than Lin.

Id say that Harden is way more reckless with the rock than Lin is. With all that said, I don't get how one decent showing in Orlando and what I would consider being a zero in Dallas accounts for outclassing a player that played a key role in routing Dallas the game before.

It honestly feels like McHale merely wants Lin to bring the ball up and pass it off to Harden and camp the three point line. Im no LOF, but there is some bark to this dog that has the LOF's so upset. Maybe just a little bit. I mean, just the year before McHale was probably one of the main reasons if not the main reason Lin was cut. Now suddenly Lin is signed to a bigger contract and McHale doesn't look a little bad in that assessment?

Of course fans want the rockets to win. They want the rockets to win but they want Lin to be a non-factor (doesn't mean you want him to fail) so they can continue to crap on him/troll lin fans until they leave.

Yeah but after Linsanity, even being an early second round pick would have probably established himself as the full time starter that's allowed to make a few bad decisions and stay in the game.

Look, I'm not one of those folks that can't take a joke, I have a lot of Asian friends and black friends and make plenty of racial slurs at them in good fun. There's a time and place for them as there should be because we shouldn't take life so seriously always and should poke fun at race, religion, politics. But the issue at hand isn't that, it's that the consequences for discrimination against Asians are far less, and people know it and take advantage of it, even on this board. You won't see any derogatory remarks about blacks or Hispanics go unpunished on this board, but if it's "ching-chong-chang," it's open season. Either tolerate racism towards everyone or don't tolerate it at all.

Remember the nasty racist comments on Lin's FB and how it got brushed off like it wasn't a big deal? What if Lin was black and people started dropping the n-bomb? What if Lin was Hispanic, and people started calling him the w-bomb? But hey if it's chink, chinaman, ching-chong-chang, it's all good and we should learn to take a joke, right? He heard the same slurs from away crowds in college, and you wonder why very few people bring it up or even know about it...

I have not seen any "ching-chong-chang" comment on this board towards Lin fans.

When your starters are non-factors, it becomes much, much harder to win games. I understand there are people out there who like to see other people fail for whatever reason. And a chunk of those people would probably like to see like fail as well.

But your assumption that there is a *sizeable* portion of the CF community pre-Lin signing that want the Rockets to win, but want Lin to be a non-factor is seriously flawed:

    1) Statistics: It is hard enough to win games in the NBA. Even harder when the starters are non-factors. This further decreases the likelihood of your claim.

    2) The nature of the internet: It's anonymous. There are trolls. People say knee jerk things and make knee jerk threads. Your claim would have to include some of these knee jerk responses and it's pretty much common sense to throw most of those out This would not net a sizeable portion of anything.

    3) The super-star paradox: Your claim assumes Lin to be a non-factor for the said games. Super stars directly affect winning games in a positive way. This would imply that people here do not want a super star on the roster. The "hate", which is already largely irrational would have to override the desire for a star player and team success. The hate would have to be infinitely massive for this to be true. This further decreases the probability of your claim.

    4) The McHale situation: It appears to me that the majority of posters here pre-Lin signing support McHale. He is a developing coach, and a lot of us know that. He's also had to deal with 100% roster turnover, trades, and mismatched skillsets. That being said, his rotations have been headscratching and he clearly has faults as a coach. The sitting of Lin is mostly divided between the McHale/McFail crowd and the support is seen as some sort of hate. If you don't disagree with a Lin benching, you automatically became a hater or seen as hating on Lin. This could be the result of cultural differences and language barriers to effective communication. This isn't real hate towards another individual.

Oh, really? Well why don't you take the trouble and "dig through a billion posts" and show those quotes to us, dude, because I must have missed them. We have a search feature. Please enlighten everyone. To hear you talk, the board must be littered with racist comments related to Jeremy Lin. So go ahead. Clue us in.

I don't remember the exact wording, and apologies, "several" might have been the wrong word, I saw probably 2 comments of that nature mocking Lin fans since I've been here, it doesn't even bother me to the point that I have reported it, I don't think that's even necessary, more just think the mocking the Chinese language insults gets old by now. I know there have been several mentions of ching-chang-chong but not as an directed insult and I'm not talking about those.

Not the 2 ching chong posts (posters could have deleted them), but apparently if you're a fan of Lin, you must be an Asian just got off the boat.

And apparently if you're a Lin supporter, you must speak like this:

I guess...consider yourself enlightened. I do notice a lack of response now that he did produce some comments.

I mean imagine that...you could of possibly missed some nasty comments.

Did McHale actually do this? Did he say "Lin is averaging 9 turnovers" or maybe "Lin had 9 turnovers last night" when it clearly wasn't the case? Inquiring minds want to know.

Unfortunate, but still a deflection. Making claims that don't apply to most people on here doesn't bolster your credibility.

Some would say McHale is allowing Lin to grow while minimizing mistakes.

If some Lin fanatics really believe there aren't any "conspiracies" as they claim then they should give the guy who has seen Lin play in practice, on footage, and on the court far longer than any of them some benefit of the doubt.

I hate these stupid caveats of "of course Lin is growing..." then procede to spew out stupid ideas of best ways to grow Lin.

Just relax and see how he develops.

It the same idiot fan mentality that wanted Yao to play less minutes and that the coach(es) wasn't using him right after an injury happens.

Coaching patterns is the symptom, not the root cause.
