The man is a social media guy. I am sure he cruises this board for a laugh more than anything but he also admitted that GM's get ideas from fan sites. I think part of his job would be to listen to what others have to say - it's great feedback about the product you are putting on the floor. Brand managers are encouraged to scan forums for insights, why shouldn't the Rockets brass?

Morey knows too much about other things not basketball related to think he's just about his job as GM. If he's got time for other things, then he certainly has time for Clutchfans, especially because of what it is.

I don't think you're the first guy here to introduce himself with his username. Seems more likely that he knows your rep here and not that he just happened to recall the username you mentioned 3 or 4 years ago.

I should also add that it's clear the FO cares about how players are perceived and what better place to gauge that than on here? A good owner or manager is never too busy to be part of the experience their business provides and they want to read and see the feedback.

Where else can you find feedback on watching a game at the TC? How the food was, the vendors, the halftime show, and how they like the new scoreboard? Or how annoying or great their TV people are? How player interaction goes and compare that to perception. then there is fan morale, expectations, etc.

It's somewhat of a version of Undercover Boss.

too funny... DD you are so infamous! :)

It's really cool to have someone so involved in the team they are responsible for that they know stuff like that. I assure you that there are very few GMs who know the screennames of any fans.

Daryl definitely lurks here. In his last redit Q&A he said he doesn't post but he does lurk.

I think a key responsibility of any GM for any major sports team in the 21st century is to be familiar with the team's Facebook page/comments as well as its top fan site. And certainly ClutchFans, as it's one of the top fan sites among all teams.

Morey was just on Jim Rome.
Rome asked if it was true that he gets ideas on message boards
and Morey confirmed that he does.

It's at the very end of the interview. Audio:
