From the ESPN Insider Rumor Mill: Rockets still betting on Yao The Rockets had a major makeover at the trade deadline and will be active when free agency starts in July, but Houston's success still lies with Yao Ming. "We have to bet on Yao," general manager Daryl Morey tells the Houston Chronicle. "There's no other way to go at this point." Morey is confident Yao will make a full recovery from surgery on his left foot and return next season. "He's definitely going to get back on the floor," Morey said. "We feel confident about that. It may be the end of the season before we really know what he's capable of." Morey's goal is to bring in a top free agent, or draft an impact player and sign a lesser free agent. Nothing new to see here. It will be interesting to see how Yao's contract pans out. I still contend, Yao is a career Rocket. I, like many others, have stated that Yao's impact on the Rocket's organization far supersedes the fear of another foot injury. The Rockets are a business first and foremost and China has embraced the Rocket's bottom line. and Secondly, Hill won't be sent down 10:37 AM ETJordan Hill | Rockets Top Email Rookie Jordan Hill has been stuck to the bench since he was acquired from New York, but Rockets head coach Rick Adelman says there are no plans to send him to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. "We haven't really talked about that," Adelman told the Houston Chronicle. "We wanted to see him up here and with the team and practicing. Right now, I wouldn't consider that." Just for anyone who was curious.
Again, the fronting of Yao will be seen less and less next season. With slashers like Martin, Ariza, Lowry, and even Brooks and Budinger, it will be absolute suicide to front Yao in the paint. Automatic box out and put-back rebound on misses.
I do not see a good thing in Jordan Hill from a few min his plays, he seems to have a long way to go for a NBA player. As for Yao, we can use his money to sign another good player if he can not play anymore. I am expecting that he will stay here if he still can play in NBA.
