Great find. I think you are the first person to mention it on clutchfans. Apparently, they only broke the news last week. They lost out twice. First, they got outbid by Houston. Second, they gave up on making a bid after Houston's waiver, after other teams with worst records like the Knicks were interested in Lin. http://lakers.ocregister.com/2012/02/12/lakers-did-try-to-claim-jeremy-lin-from-warriors/69243/ I had heard about the Celtics. http://tracking.si.com/2012/02/16/boston-celtics-attempted-to-claim-jeremy-lin-twice/ Houston beat out at least 2 teams, Celtics and Lakers. Lakers claimed there were more teams interested in Jeremy, not just one(Knicks). The other teams may have given up or made a claim and lost.
So apparently there were a few other teams that were interested. So he was not totally "coming out of nowhere."
You're pretty much alone on this one, bud. Every NBA analyst who has watched his game says he's the real deal, and most people who know basketball agree. The degree of difficulty on his "shots" are not just layups. You must have gone to the Daryl Morey School of Player Evaluation.
Real deal? Do you think he's top 10 PG? He hasn't done anything to impress me. Him taking the more shots than everyone else is not a good sign. Unless you're Rose, you should not be taking more shots than anyone else in your team.
I didn't like it when Morey said that no one saw how good Jerermy would be...I thought folks at Clutchfans understood his value way back in the preseason.
Rose is bricking more shots than Lin. He is hitting only 46% vs 51% for Lin as a starter. At 3 pt range, Rose is hitting on 31% vs 39% for Lin. If it was so easy, Derrick Rose should be hitting 51% of his shots and 39% of his 3pters and dishing out 7 assists a night, also.
You know how many players folks at Clutchfans projected to be stars in this league that ended up being nobodies?
True that I guess it takes skill to filter out the noise. V-Span, Dan Langhi,...I'm sure there are others that "certain" folks were behind...
I was supporting Lin before he came into training camp, and was disappointed that he did not end up in the roster. But that being said, absolutely nobody in their right mind (unless they were LOF) saw this coming. This is unprecedented, something that never happened before in the NBA. Heck, even the Knicks were about to cut him if not for having to play him out of desperation. If people saw this coming, a lot of teams would have picked up him immediately straight after his stint with us. People saw Lin as a possible addition to the backup PG, nobody expected him to blow up the way he did.
Man this linsanity mess is out of control as far as the hype, i was listening to coast to coast am if anyone knows what that is (not really a sports show lol) and the people on the show started talking about Lin.
LOL ... Magic Jonhston, steve nash and jason kidd 3 of the greatest point guards of all time have gone nuts for LIn. Those 3 know who is a great point guard.
Mavs played a 6' 8 Marion on Lin and was doubled-team with Nowitzki, and he still got his points and assists. Yeah, I'm sick of all the attention on Linsanity and especially NY Knicks, but he is not a scrub like many who still think he is. I'll say this, if Lowry plays like this in the past 2 games, letting his teammates get involve, he is going to be an All-Star next year, but Lin is going to be an All-Star next year (by fan's vote).
What does another team trade the Rockets for 4th string PG? In the time that Lin was with the Rockets Flynn still showed more value as a trade chip with his contract. Lin would have the filler of the filler in a trade, if that.
When you're averaging around 50% while taking a bunch of 3's and wild shots, I say that's pretty darn good
He had only 3 TOs last night. He was less aggressive, probably because of the presence of Melo. Look how it turned out. They lost to the lowly Nets. Yeah, same result as the pre-Lin Knicks. I give Melo the benefit of the doubt that he is not 100%. We'll see how they deal with the role shifts.
