McHale will be on Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio tomorrow talking about why the Rockets let Lin go... I'll be listening.

Thank you Rockets, this may turn out to be the worst season in recent history:
    - stuck in mediocrity
    - players declining
    - no possible FAs who want to sign here
    - letting Lin go when everybody on this board saw how good he was
    - picking up Adrien and in the end letting him go which makes the Lin cut sting even more
    - no decent draft picks with us probably ending 9th and the Knicks around 5-7

Teams NY beat to go 6-0:

    NJ (8-21)
    Utah (14-14)
    Washington (7-22)
    LAL (17-12)
    Minnesonta (13-16)
    Toronto (9-21)

NY is the team in the East with the the least games against the EC, and the most against WC teams.

I think all of us need to step back and look at this from another perspective. The NBA wants to sell more apparel in NY. With the Giants winning the Superbowl, NY forgot they had a basketball team that was swept out of the first round.

Jeremy Lin is doing wonders bringing back the NY market while bringing back the Chinese market. Morey cutting him is unfortunate, and him ending up in NY sucks more. The fact remains that it looked like the Rockets had no use for him at the time.

I will reserve judgement. If he is really an All-Star he will continue to showcase it. Unfortunately, the remaining schedule in February is really easy for NY. Scratch that, the remaining year is easy for NY because they are in the east and have played so many games against WC teams already.

He was only on 800 k salary!

Low risk high reward upside !

It doesn't matter we had 3 point guards

I 100% agree. If anything the Rockets should have re-signed him to keep the demand for point guards high. I don't think he is an all-star. He's not even a top 50 player in the league.

The one facet of his game that stands out is his steals per game, but that stands out to me as much as his turn overs per game. He still can't shoot well. His handles and his passing game aren't anything special for an NBA PG. At 800k, he's still a bargain.

When you have $3.5 million on the bench in a third string PG who was recently drafted and acquired vs a player who was just cut by his team and isn't on the books....tell me you would have done things differently than Daryl Morey and I'm calling your bluff.

Exactly, it was the right move at the time. Of course hindsight being what it is...

Morey played the probabilities, and sometimes you lose.

That said, I am bitter beyond comprehension at how Stern handicapped our franchise this season. Most likely, with Dragic traded, Lin is right now getting 25 minutes a game backing up Lowry.

    Stern needs to go.

This is the only thing I've been thinking about and it pissed me off. Rockets would have had such a good squad. Stern owes Les, but maybe his apology was the All Star Game. Hope not because the Rockets need a player.

Looks like we just let go of an all-star for sure.

Starting to look like it unfortunately. It's not like the talent that Lin has been winning with is better than what we have. What he is doing there I see no reason why he couldn't do that here.

Rockets organization should take the blame here. Not just Morey.

This is the upside to 'rebuilding' you throw out players and see what you have. You throw out guys like Twill and roll with it without worrying about trying to get the 8th seed.

This is why I've been pro-tank (rebuild) ever since Yao went out. If you are rebuilding you are throwing out players like this and guys like Morris would be playing right now.

No doubt, we lost millions and forgo alot of possible contacts. When Lin was here, he had a cult following on twitter and was liked by star players (S.Curry and David Lee) with the Warriors. If the Rocks paid attention to the Warriors, they should of known that their former coach (Smart) said he was the hardest worker and the Warriors had to give him a press conference when he was signed undrafted because of his popularity. I wanted the Rocks to keep him because of the bigger potential than Yao that he could bring, he plays PG and speaks fluent english opposite of #11 except humbleness and a first/last at work type of person. We went for the safe route, we got burnt monetarily and figuratively, we possibly gave NY a mega-star that the Rocks desparately needs. I can't enjoy this Rocks season as much knowing what we gave up. Hard work (Yao) > Talent (McGrady)

Frankly, this is what I believed in from the start of the season. It certainly would be more entertaining. Don't get me wrong, I like winning, but losses make you feel good knowing something great can come out of them if you get enough. The benefit is substantial considering it develops the young guys, and we get a better pick. Morey does not have to worry about trading up like he does every draft because we earned that pick the hard way. The losses wouldn't sting like they do (blowing huge leads, or going down and never coming back to tie the game) making you feel like the Rockets are a hopeless team.

Morris, T-Will, and Lin should have played this season...Gasol should have been a Rockets, but it didn't happen. Adjust, tank, move on.

We will know the direction of the team by the trade deadline. If the Rockets fall more than 5 games behind any time during the season they need to start tanking.

The All Star Game was given to us before the blocked trade.

It just happens that Chandler Parsons has been playing in place of Morris.

Stop with the nonsense, Lin would not flourish here!

    Seriously!

I am sick and tired of you rookies crying and b****ing about how we lost Lin, how he made this and that...bla blah bla! It's in every thread now. Stop it!

Everyone who mentions the kid in one of our game threads needs to be banned!

Lin is a good player and he found his place in NY. Even if McHale gave him time he wouldn't be playing 35 minutes, he probably wouldn't make big shots and he would be out third PG!!!

Do you seriously think that if Dragic or Lowry were in NY, he would have played so much? NO! Stop it cry babies, move on!

I can't wait for the day this all calms down, becuase right now I want to punch every person who posts Lin in Rockets Game THREADS!!!!!!!

    ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad::mad:

He might not be the phenomenon he is now but he might've been a real spark off of the bench and someone who could give us more than Johnny Flynn.

I want to punch you for using so many annoying red smileys and posting YET another Lin thread in the GARM.

    Don't feed the trolls.

I'm a Lin fan and I totally understand why the Rockets cut him. Hurts a bit (a lot actually) for our draft pick chances, but that's the way life is.
