He did nothing with us and with golden state. He never had a phenomenal preseason game or any summer league games in a single pro-am league. The rookie we traded for attest (Green) at least put up 40 one game with brooks and showed he was the athlete we sought. Lin never showed a flash of brilliance, he's just coming to his own now after (what moreu mentioned) hard work and humility.

Lin will slow down when Mello and Amare come back.
Or he will be slowed down when oppenents work out a plan for his penetration, remember Lin is not a good jump shooter.

Don't get me wrong, I like Lin, he is smart and he plays hard...But I still think he will end up like Dragic, a decent backup PG.

The annoying thing about this entire situation is that I want Jeremy Lin to do well. Its a great story, and he's an easy guy to root for. And yet, the better he does, the better NY does :)mad:) and the more ridiculous ranting that the Rockets are idiots for not knowing better :)rolleyes:).

While Morey is right in saying none of us expected Lin to be as good as he is now, to say that none of us expected him to at least be a solid rotation player is BS. After the John Wall game I was more or less convinced that he had talent and after watching him some in GS, even though he generally got garbage minutes it's just the way a player moves on the court and operates you can get a good idea if they con contribute. I always thought he could be a good backup point but apparently none of the other teams even remotely thought of it that way. A part of me is always confused what coaches see in practice from their players that convinces them to play certain players or not play others. I would expect Lin to have been as good in practice so why everyone slept on him is weird, and frankly from what I understand D'Antoni playing Lin was a last resort kind of choice which shouldn't be the case.

I think Morey made the right move at the time for the team and I know why we didn't keep Lin. A lot of us were hoping to keep him. But the tweet came off as sour grapes to me honestly.

Morey didn't say no one thought Lin could be a solid backup player in the NBA. He himself told Lin after watching him in college that he could be a good NBA player.

But Lin looks much better than that of late, and he's saying that wasn't something anyone seriously projected.

If that's the case-- and I thought that was one of the interpretations of the tweet as mentioned in my original post, but felt that there were other connotations there-- then as mentioned, I think that's completely fair. Thanks for the info.

He is covering his arse, some people could see that he was gonna be pretty decent given the right opportunity.

You can't get better letting quality assets walk out the door like that.

But I understand he would not have had that opportunity in Houston.

There is a difference between "pretty decent" and 25 pts, 8 rebounds per game and looking like Steve Nash carving up the D.

    You're sounding a lot like Morey. :)

I thought accumulating too many quality assets on a roster was a bad thing?

Lin is overrated and overhyped right now.

    End this thread.

It's silly any ways because he simply would not get the time here. The only thing Morey should regret is that he's doing this for the frackken New York Knicks
