Sounds like Morey didn't expect us to be so soft. He sounded surprised we weren't as scrappy like in previous years.

Very very few get them in the draft, and very very few get them through trade.

    M&M baby, changed the culture.

    It is nothing suprise.
If a team have too many white players, that team will be soft.

The heat lost the dpoy in morning and still had a top 5 defense with brian grant in the middle. When yao missed alot of time in 05, the rockets were still top 5 in defense. Up until 2 years ago when Yao missed games the rockets play good enough defense. So here is my problem, if you know the defense will suffer big time when Yao is out, some on the player, some on the personel, why go get brad miller as a backup center? Why is chuck or scola playing center. Look what dallas did in terms of getting haywood and chandler to man the 5. Look a little closer and you will see mahinmi and ajinca, both 7 fters. Basically, they're loading up for the lakers and figure they can get 20pts and 10 rebs out of their 5 spot with blks included. I'm not saying these guys would have set the world on fire, but if the rockets couldve gottne a guy like hollins and a guy like mbenga, they would be alot better defensively with yao out which we know he's going to miss time at some point.

Say what you will about Dirk, but he's had a healthy career, which is why Dallas hasn't been a bottom dweller for years.

You're probably right, and the really sad thing about that is that mgmt will have the excuse that there's a chance Yao can return to form. The risk that Yao can return to form and we keep the cash cow will always trump the use Yao to get a star plan.

    (1) The Rockets DID try to get Tyson Chandler. They even had a four-team deal in place revolving around a Chris Bosh sign-and-trade to Miami that would have landed Chandler in Houston in exchange for Jared Jeffries and David Andersen. But, alas, the deal fell apart at the last second.

    (2) Mahinmi and Ajinca are crap. Neither does anything positive for the Mavs. Ajinca was "unloaded" on Dallas by the Bobcats in the Chandler trade. Mahinmi was maybe worth a gamble, but it should tell you something when the Spurs didn't want to keep him around for the league minimum.

    (3) Ryan Hollins does nothing for the Rockets that Jared Jeffries couldn't do, and Jeffries isn't even playing. Mbenga is a scrub. No way he gets on the floor over Hayes or Hill. Remember, at least Deke was a SMART shot-blocking center. Mbenga just tries to swing at everything and is often caught out of position. No, thanks.

Which is why i think the team will continue to be in limbo going on 6 seasons next year. Yao must be a cash cow indeed to be making that type of money and to still be around despite all the failed seasons.

And that "changed culture" you've been trumpeting the last several days won against an excellent team, the Thunder, and against the defending world champions, the Lakers. Two of our last three opponents, the one loss being the second game of a back to back against another excellent team, Dallas. What do you say to that, DD?

    My Q for DM:

How surprised are you at Jordan Hill's progress? Were you pretty sure when we traded for him, or was he a throw-in?

WTF? Dude get a reality check!
    Signed,
    Larry Bird
    Bill laimbeer
    Kevin mcHale

    And in todays game:

    Nick Collison
Matt Harpring(Hell most of the Utah teams were white and in no way considered "soft")

In short, get the hell out of here with asuming white players are all soft.

From what I remembered last year, the Knicks didn't want to give up Jordan Hill but Morey wouldn't budge. When the Rockets had a deal to send T-Mac to the Kings, it really forced Walsh's hand.
