Dont know where to put this, so I'll leave it here(?). Feel free to move it. Hope I didnt mistype/misspeak on Clutch's behalf! ________________________________________________ How are you? C: Good, how are you? Good. Clippers game most highly anticpated game in quite some time. Someone tell Chuck not to totally shut down the other team. C: 4-5 minutes left in the game, I was saying, give us any kind of excitement. Chuck has done this though. Did it against Griffin and Stoudemire. Credit to Chuck. Might be sad state of affairs for Rockets but he might be the team MVP. He is a strange piece of the team. Fills a need for how thin they are but in his Rockets tenure here he at times hasnt gotten off the bench. On the other hand, he is the team MVP. C: This time, I think he will get league-wide interest. Footwork is excellent. He stays between his guy and the basket. You see this in practice. I think he will get interest. Early in Adelman's tenure, he was forgotten but Rick trusts him now as he said yesterday. Speaking of Rick, went into long rant about team's effort. Last year, seems they brought it every game, this year not so much. Why? C: Chemistry problems. Not that they dont like each other. There is not enough playing time to satisfy everyone. This team is overriped for a trade. We'll see something happen by the deadline. I think that has caused a lot of problems. In preseason, guys were excited. That is gone. They know they need change. 3 weeks away from that happening. Pie in the sky approach - with Carmelo - obviously Rockets are a possible team that will take him on without an extension. As a Rockets fan, are you ok with that to trade off some assets for a possible rental? C: Certain pieces I dont mind moving. Jordan Hill I dont have a problem with. 2012 pick is fine. But if they're taking back long term salary, which many believe they'll have to do, that is a risky proposition. People are convinced he is going to NY, and if so, Rockets could be left holding salary. I was on board with it when Yao was healthy but too big of a risk now. Yeah, Al Harrington will be left sitting there on the couch. C: They gotta make a move one way or the other up or down. It's a risk. One shot at it and then left with a bad contract. Who are some big bodies out there? Potential bigs for the Rockets? C: I dont know how feasible this is but last year, Martin was a guy the Rockets liked. Reports said Martin wasnt going anywhere. Sure enough things changed by the deadline. You might see that in Indiana with Hibbert. Indiana a situation Rockets are(?)/could be keeping an eye on. That might be a pie-in-the-sky move. Rockets have 5th most valuable franchise. With trades now, feels like it has more to do with the money teams are losing. C: It is. Has changed drastically in last few years. Trades dont happen because of this guy fits here and that guy fitting there. It is for salary and cap reasons. On one hand, its fascinating. On the other hand it's sad. Rockets get a little groove going. Now a tough 4 game road trip. C: Yeah, record isnt good. 2-13 vs top teams. Losing records vs 7 of top 8 west teams. 1-1 vs LAL. 12 games left before trade deadline. Guys gotta make their case they belong here. Jazz are struggling. Rockets are striving for 8th spot. In the mix with Memphis and Phoenix and LAC and GS. When you look at those teams, you feel confident in the Rockets because of the talent and depth. What team other than the Rockets out of that group scares you the most? C: I'd have to say Memphis. Rockets have beaten up on them but did just lose to them. Play them again next month. Portland is the one they gotta catch. I had a writer on from FanHouse yesterday - had an article on McGrady and his rebirth. You keeping an eye on him and does that surprise you? C: Doesnt surprise me because of how talented he is/was. Some teams may look to acquire him. Surprised me how he has played well but shouldnt be. He has always been talented. Hes not a guy though I would build a team around. Obviously he isnt that guy anymore but a guy that not sure you cant count on. When Rockets experienced most success, he was the facilitator. C: Some hoping you can see that with Williams but yes he was such a good creator. Allowed your PG to be more of a scorer. That duo could have worked but health concerns and then counting on McGrady. It just didnt work out. Great stuff as always. Appreciate the time. C: Thanks so much.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=199693&page=4&pp=20 "Morey had to trade for him then or else another team would have jumped at the opportunity to get him for a protected 1st round pick. (Cavaliers somebody? They're desperate for a potential star!) None of us would be having this conversation. Better to have him than to not have him." Mentioned it a couple of weeks ago also...
haha! all quick point guards = tony parker if they play on the rockets. So many posters don't even think about the elite finishing skills Tony Parker possesses when compared to the "dribbling around" king
Think there would be a different tone if Moreys show was at night after a game? Very strategic... wait until everyone has slept on the a** kicking first, then go on...
Short visit with Daryl. Spoiler Good morning Daryl. Congrats on the win. Thanks. Radio row is exciting. You would do well here. Nice to get a win last night. Desperately needed it. Good win. Tough road trip. Hoping to come away with two but needed at least one to stay close in the race. Doesnt look like we're in it but we are. We got winnable games coming up starting with Memphis. Portland the other team we're chasing. Next 10 games, then you go into March. I'm saying, not you, but you have to go on a huge run, not just a good run. Agree? Absolutely. Gotta get this back to .500 like we did in December and have a closing kick. Will take 43-45 wins and thats within our capability. Been in some close games that could've been played better. Luck turned our way yesterday. In close games we need to execute better. Last year we talked about Adelman and getting players to play shorthanded, this year again, you saw in LA and Utah, they're fighting, doing it again, although lost in LA. Certainly. Rick stays positive and brings these guys along. I was down on the rebounding part yesterday. Rick stays positive and focuses the guys on improving their game. What about Martin? Sat out much 4th Q but made the big bucket in the end. Adelman is trying to get Brooks in there. Everyone knows his talent. He is coming back from injuiry. Rick is trying to get him going. He hasnt been himself this year. Trying to get his confidence back. How is his health or what is it in terms of getting it going? He's pretty much back at this point. Healthy enough to play. Gotta work through it. Gotta get his timing back. He hasnt had injuries in his career so... Memphis Saturday. Won 4 games in a row. You lost to them recently. Talk about them. They're playing extremely well. We need to beat them and if we do, we'll clinch the tiebreaker I believe. They're playing well. Randolph ressurected his career and one of the better low post players. Conley has emerged and Gasol a good center. Hollins a good coach. Gets his players playing hard and has them in the right direction. Also between you and the 8th spot is Phoenix. What about them? I think we got the edge on them schedule wise and overall. How we play teams vs them, we got the edge. We'll see though. Phoenix in the race but I'd say right now, Portland and Memphis have the edge. MIght be only Memphis because of Portland injuries. Might be the most important game of the season Saturday. Did team fly back? They made it back luckily. Im in CA. Went to UCLA game. Got another college game but might have to skip it. ... Who do you like in the SB? Packers. Born there. Hopefully going to sneak in there and catch the game. Thanks a lot for joining us. Have a safe trip. Thanks for having me on.
Amel, you understand Morey was the author of that quote, right? Either I misunderstood him, or he mispoke. Kind of hard for me accept that he is talking about a current player. Then again, Aldeman has said a few things about T-Will that was a bit eye-popping.
This part bothers me, are we trying to win games or get AB's confidence back? I understand getting old AB is important but you bench your best player in a CRUCIAL situation to do it?
Must be nice not having tickets to the Super Bowl and just show up to get in. I don't think many celebrities can even do that.
What's odd is that we sat Martin in favor of Battier to match up with "insert crappy Jazz SF here." Yet the other night, we left Battier on the bench so that Martin could match up with Kobe Bryant. Some consistency would be nice -- I'm sure the players feel the same way.
Haha I dont know if he's actually sneaking in but I think he meant hoping to make it down here and catch it. Ehh could be wrong?! Maybe he does want to sneak in. Both! No, I don't know. It's a good point you bring up. I guess not comfortable with Martin at the 3 during that time or they want Battier in for his defense? Thinking of who they could take out but I don't know. The "closing" line up is Lowry, Brooks(SG), Battier, Scola, Hayes isnt it? Obviously Brooks is in as a shooter, not a PG, so probably cant take Lowry out. Only other real option is to take Scola or Battier out and insert Martin at the 3. Lowry, Brooks, Martin, Scola, Hayes or Lowry, Brooks, Martin, Battier, Hayes Or take Brooks out all together but again, that doesnt appear to be an option.
Great strategy regarding AB. We have to get our best closer back to his old form for the playoffs but in the process that move costs us a playoff spot. So we still have a disgruntled, possibly still underperforming PG, no playoff spot and mid-teens draft pick. It’s a lose/lose/lose situation. This had better be a ploy to get AB's value up for a trade.
