    Good interview..

-Seemed anxious along with the fans that called in to get Jordan Hill and Terrence Williams up to their potential to upgrade the Center and SF spots but puts trust in Adelman's rotations of course.

-Said Williams has looked good in practice so far.

-Seemed intrigued when asked about a larger rotation with smaller minutes for players on roster sort of similar to how Euro leagues do substitutions to keep fast pace gameplay.

-Nothing even brought up about potential trades, or the status of Yao Ming's contract moving.

You wanna get him fined for tampering or something? He can't talk about specific targets anyways.

Thoughts on the game? Put up a good fight.

Yeah, guys fought real hard but not satisfied with that. Game was winnable. Good things happened. Wade a Rocket killer. Always takes it to us. They're a tough cover. Shane kept LeBron in check. No one could slow Wade down. One need was presence at the rim. Coaching staff had good plan but he was awesome. As good as I've seen.

Never been more entertained and frustrated at same time. You do have to look at interior defense. Gotta do something.

Yeah. We got some guys with potential. Hill getting better but not all the way there. Fans havent seen Patterson. Thats something that would help as well. Luis works hard but not his strength. Chuck can contain penetration at the point of the ball but not a perfect team. Playing some good basketball. Got a good game New Years eve. We'll battle hard to get back to .500.

Last night, on O, put 119 on Heat, who hold teams to below 100. Had to feel happy on O.

Yeah, credit coach Adelman and players. They are 2nd best defensive team in league and we exposed some things. Ball movement, if you isolate, it wont work. We had good ball movement. Thats why we got to FT line.

Good point. You put on tape how to attack them. You also went small and can beat anyone.

Yeah, closed game against Wizards small. They're big on the perimeter so coach thought it was tough to go with yesterday. Usually when we go small, we do well against other teams. Credit to scheme and players who are working hard, moving the ball and attacking.

For Heat, only visit to Toyota Center. Where are they? How good can they be?

I gotta stick with preseason prediction as best team. Didnt look that way for awhile but individual talent, never been the case in the league. Those talents will shine in the playoffs. We played hard but not sure LeBron had his A game. You'll get that in the playoffs. They'll be tough to handle. Spoelstra doing a good job. They're unbelievable.

I hate turnovers. Ball protection has improved. Low TOs yesterday.

7 I think. Brooks has helped. Brooks had best game of the year. Setting up guys tremendous. He was one of the few who can beat a guy off dribble and making their D move. I was hoping shot at the end would go down. Would have been exciting. If I had MVP for game, would've been Aaron.

Interesting template. 2 pgs at all times. Gotta be until further notice and change inside, you gotta be that team.

Yeah, best uptempo and playing small. Our bigs have played well but strength lies in playing small, uptempo, and making teams play our style.

Martin 7 games scoring 20+. Discuss his season.

Having an All-Star season. We dont dream of this but idea he could be first player to lead league in 3pters and FTs made pretty unbelievable. Had 7 rebounds last game. I joked with him, if he's not careful he might lead team in rebounding one of these games. It's been a big help. Yesterday, On the RAW we might of lost but adjusted, we did miss a few shots. Rebounding pretty even. We been able to keep it even because our wings. Kyle, Kevin, Chase, Lee, they all been getting in there helping the bigs. Thats been a big positive. He's unstoppable when hes on. DIdnt have A game yesterday. Athleticism of Wade/LeBron bothered him a little bit but still had solid game.

Quick update on personnel. Not about moves but you got guys sitting out. Updates on Williams, etc.

Everyone is healthy. Terrence and Patrick available to play. We're deep. Hard for coach to play more than 10 guys. Terrence will get a shot when he gets a shot. We trust coach to make those decisions. He looks good in practice but got other guys who are really good. We didnt acquire him with idea he would play right away. Thought he was a good bet overtime.

Well, I saw the note that Jonathan said that you wanted more practice, etc.

He gotten in 3. One a half practice. He'll get one in today. Hopefully Rockets fans can be patient because we are. He is a guy we think can help over time but right now, this team is playing well, and guys playing are playing well. Terrence is like a rookie. He played last year but played on a team where everyone played by default on a 12 win team. Bringing him along slow is what coach is good at doing. He is on a winning program. He is a winner, was at Louisville, and is enjoying being here on a winning program.

[Caller]: Concerned about the beginning of 3rd Q. First team looks slow, sluggish, takes time to get going. And impressed with Hill. When do you determine that players are ready to get out there and take that leap?

On Jordan, good to see him match up with Bosh. Inspired him to be what he could be. Not saying he will be Bosh, not fair to him, but skillset, he got all the tools Chris does. Inspires him something to work to. I'd like Jordan to be inside rather than outside like Bosh but skillwise, size wise very similar. Chuck was terrific. Maybe he could have gone back to him late but Jordan playing well. No issues with Chuck. He is a huge reason why were winning and forgot first question.

    Sluggish 3rd quarters.

    We have sluggish 3rd Qs?

    Last night.

Last night - didnt think it was the start of the 3rd. More so middle to end of the 3rd. Our guys looked like they ran out of energy. Obviously hyped up for game and we were playing hard uptempo and on D. Guys just ran out of gas. We were ahead by 6-7 and then took it to us when our guys looked/got tired.

[Caller]: Great games lately. Wanted to ask, do you believe talent we have is enough to get out of the first round?

Frankly, we're focused on getting to the playoffs. Thats our mission right now. We're fighting, Portland and Phoenix, Memphis a little behind us. All of us hoping New Orleans and maybe Denver come back to earth. Thats the field. Thats step 1 and what we're focused on.

[Caller]: A lot of talk about a finisher or go to guy but what about a need for a defensive anchor. You go to battle with best guys on O but who are also worst on D, what about a D anchor? Where does that stand on priorities?

Overall team needs, I'd call that number 1. Like I said. Pat and Hill could help in that area. A defensive 5, strong rebounder, good presence in middle and at the rim, I'd say thats the #1 need right now.

[Caller]: Regarding Adelman, I think it took awhile for coach to figure out to how to use depth of the roster, and who to play with who, but seems to me you could adhance that even more if you had quicker substitutions/rotations. Any talk about that?

Interesting. I dont get into that. Coach coaches. Europe does what you're talking about. They play wide rotations. Shane was on the last team that tried to press that advantage in terms of playing 10, 11, 12 guys and uptempo with Hubie Brown in Memphis. Potential option, coach looks at everything, but obviously they feel they got a winning formula. January will be tough. Back to backs, tough opponents. We may see different things, maybe not that but we might see different things.

I like that point. When you have superstars, you cant do more than 8-9 man rotation. But when a good deep team, it can become rotation dejour, cant it?

Potentially. I go back to what JVG said. Hard to enough to find 3 players who can play the game.

Not that he was dour or anything

Yeah, he was always positive. Always polly sunshine. Its interesting. Generally, NBA is tighter rotations. Its what Jeff said more or less. Usually teams dont have solid players going past 8 or 9. We dont overrate ourselves but 11-12 guy, we have talent all the way down there. Good for us. We're better at 11-12 than everyone else. It does beg the question. Strategic option.

]Caller]: I do think Hill and Lee need to get in earlier as the last caller said. Wanted to talk about T. Williams. I think we lack a 3 that can score and/or all around game. Battier good but he doesnt have that boost he use to have. If you can get a 3 or 5 or play Hill more and maybe Hill develops more, you have acquired a squad of talent

Yeah, we have great team of guys. Gerrson and Hinkie and 10 other guys to mention. I think you hit it right. Hill and Williams, both have ability to be 2 way players. Will they achieve it? Thats on them. They have the potential to be good two way players. A lot of guys on the roster are extremely good but they tend to lean a little bit one demensional. Not to knock them. We love what they're doing and every team got one demensional guys but idea was, if everything comes together for both Hill and Williams, they could be both way players. Odds are, it will be difficult for both to pan out but with our coaching staff, we'll give them every chance and hopefully they take it.

    Toronto tomorrow. Happy New Year.

Yeah. Almost to 2011. Amazing. January will be the month. If we can get through it, we'll line ourselves up for the playoffs.

Schedule gets tough. Thanks a lot.

    Thanks for having me on.

We might be deep from First through the inactive list but one disappointing fact about this season is how often our second unit has been outplayed, what's supposed to be an advantage on paper has failed to succeed in reality. Hopefully that could be solved with our PG health issues behind us.

When I read this, it makes me wonder if Morey is looking at Sean Williams.

Amen, either him or Camby would do the trick.

Today Morey was Also on theJim Rome show and I caught most of it.

But anyways Josh Innis (filling in for Jim Rome) asked if we Potentially considering trading Yao Ming.

I was shocked and thought DM would say the politically correct answer but DM speaks the truth and said something along the lines of this.

Ya we would/are considering it b/c he has and expiring, etc...

    During Hollinger's chat today...

What is Anderson Varejao's trade value?

    John Hollinger (2:53 PM)

This is the placeholder for the 4,038 Varejao trade questions I've been assaulted with. Right now the teams that need him the most are in the worst position to get him -- i.e. Miami and Atlanta have nothing to trade, OKC doesn't want to take on $$, etc. I could see Houston making a strong run at him.

This isn't the 1st time I've seen someone mention Houston making a run at Andy.

Varejao is an annoying human being on the court and thus fits Morey's plan to assemble the most annoying team ever.

Nothing supringing. He's not saying we don't want Yao back ever, just that since (a) his contract is expiring, (b) his contract is insured, and (c) he's not gonna play under the current contract, we might as well see whether some broke ass team will give us something nice to save some money.

varejao would be the perfect fit, hell he outplayed dwight howard the other night. held him to 12 points and 6 rebounds, while varejao had 14 and 9 with 5 steals and 3 blocks
