AB closes out on shooters poorly and for all his speed/quickness, he's never averaged even ONE steal a game. Of course his size kills him on the post. No way he's average. A fun game would be to name a weaker Rockets PG defender, ever.
I'll also point out that Brooks' adjusted +/- rating on defense in 08-09 (from Ilardi's method, stabilized with 5-years of prior data) was among the worst in the league. That's with him playing most of his minutes with Yao. Its hard for me to give too much defensive credit to Brooks for the defensive prowess of that squad.
Matt Maloney. OH - that didn't take long! Franchise was also pretty bad - but better than Brooks. (anyone remember his first game? just ran around looking lost with Chuck yelling at him!) Bryce Drew?
The amount of effort Brooks asserts on D so far is on par with Martin. Sometimes they care, sometimes they don't. The first game is more than enough proof to show that Brooks gets lazy when the game counts. Didn't Durvasa's thread place Brooks and Martin below the worse on defence, with Brooks lower than Martin? Not to say that Martin is a better defender than Brooks, but both of them have some serious effort issues on defence.
Brooks is a terrible defender. This is the biggest disagreement I have with DaDa. He refuses to acknowledge this. He wants him to be "average". But the difference between Brooks' D and Lowry's D is.....staggering. There's no way around it.
For all descent people both black & white of all ethnicity they should correctly call Yao Ming his full name in respect. Uneducated people of all ethnicity are only the ones who give disrespected.
Brooks is average on D like you are average in physical fitness. Not that I am the one to talk about other people's fitness level... but c'mon AB's D is turrible.

Brooks' D is below average. Martin's D is below average. Martin is the better basketball player. It's clear as day that AB should play alongside Lee coming off the bench.
DD's ability to be a hypocrite continues to astound me. Like he never takes it on a personal level with another person... And Brooks D is not average. Jesus Christ it's like you're the only person still convinced the world is flat.

And here I took you off ignore for just a moment because I thought you were done following me around nipping at my heels... Where, in any of this did I get personal? I am fully capable of tossing stones, I can go toe to toe with anyone in personal insults....I used to completely turn the other cheek as Clutch used to ban people for it. I think you will rarely find me tossing out the first insult, it is usually one or more folks getting personal at me, first. I find it hilarious that CH takes a shot at me, and you defend him....unreal.... You want to clean up the boards? Stop the first shot, cold.....then everyone will fall in line. Yes, it is average, he is good on D some games, and poor in others, pretty average, really. Kmart's is bad...... You can keep saying Brooks D is bad, but watching Lowry get blown by night in and night out, proves the point I have been making ALL ALONG, that the new rules, not allowing hand checking and the refs allowing peole to carry the ball make perimeter defense danged near impossible and it magnifies the need for shot blocking or length in the lane.
